Is anyone else strangely excited?

yeah, at first i was like, "this looks really dumb" but yea, i think its because this summer a lot of crappy movies, but yea, i'm stoked for this. early reviews are saying its actually somewhat good

i think people want every property to be on TDK level, but they honestly are not all as in depth as that. I don't want to see the upcoming live action Yogi Bear movie done in the style of a mystery thriller a la Heat.

I was very skeptical about this movie for awhile but after seeing a few ads on tv, i think i can say i'm fairly excited. At first, like many, I said that it looked stupid but then i remembered that I liked both Transformers movies so i shouldn't really crap on G.I. Joe. haha

Earlier today, my friends and I saw a tv spot. After it was over I slowly turned to them and said "Is it just me, or does that look awesome?"

They embarresingly nodded.

This looks like a lot of fun. Sue me. Since TF2 wasn't fun at all, imo, I need to watch a film this year where I can just sit back, relax and not worry about following the film's plot.

Why did people even think about the TF for a second anyway? I didnt. Only after it was over did I even begin to touch the surface of it.

And if this does well, we get the inevitable crossover. I actually think Bay would be all for that **** too.

Yeah, people can't expect everything to be along the lines of TDK. Thought provoking, intellectual, etc. Sometimes you just want to throw your brain away and enjoy a good fun movie.

Anyone who thinks otherwise is a film snob. I can see if you prefer more thought provoking films, I do. But movies are meant to be entertainment as well. Fun and popcorn never hurt anything.

Not hyped at all, and damn did I want to be when this movie was first announced. :(

On the plus side though, there's NO WAY that this movie could be as bad as the steaming pile of crap I watched last night - Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li. Wow. Now THAT is a horrible movie. I think Kristen Kreuk might literally be the worst actress on the face of the earth, outside of community theater fodder. She has the most deadpan delivery of anyone I've ever heard. And as far as her ability to convey emotions non-verbally... I think it's somewhere between "stare blankly" and "blink."

If you do, be warned... there are certain parts that fall into the "so bad it's good" realm, but first you have to sit through multiple boring scenes of Kreuk giving the most bland and pointless narration ever conceived. I swear, all she does is state the obvious:

(scene of Kreuk walking past homeless people in Bangkok)
Kreuk: People were in poverty here.

(scene of a person being mugged)
Kreuk: There was crime everywhere

(scene of Kreuk's father teaching her martial arts)
Kreuk: My father taught me how to fight.

And so on. Those aren't direct quotes, but you get the idea.

I don't want to see Legend of Chun Li. At least the original Street Fighter was so bad it was entertaining. With Legend of Chun Li though, it sounds so depressingly tedious that I don't think I could sit through it.

Yeah, that's the worst part. I actually fast-forwarded through a couple of scenes in the middle of the film just because I couldn't take anymore of Kreuk explaining why she's walking around aimlessly via voiceover.

If the film had gone into "so bad it's good" territory more often than not, it would be worth a rental, but it doesn't. Even Chris Klien's awful Keanu-Reeves-meets-David Caruso performance as *****ebag Cop #1, which was panned severely by critics, was barely a blip on the radar when compared to Kreuk's dull delivery and lack of reaction to absolutely anything.

The plot holes are pretty funny though. The director and the screenwriter apparently don't understand basic concepts like the fact that, you know, people age. For example:

At the beginning, M. Bison meets Chun Li when she is about 13. Neil McDonough plays Bison in this scene. Later on, when Chun Li is an adult, she runs into Bison (still McDonough) again and later learns the story of Bison's origin. We find out that when Bison was a young man (so young that he is played by a different actor) he had a daughter that he ripped out of his wife's womb with his bare hands (yes, this actually happens... I suppose pro-lifers would have been up-in-arms over this movie had anyone actually seen it).

Anyway, back in the present day, we're eventually introduced to Bison's daughter, who appears to be YOUNGER than Chun Li despite being born so long before her that her father looked completely different. If that's not the definition of lazy writing and direction, I don't know what is.

I admit at first when seeing the costumes that this movie would suck but after seeing the actors on talk shows it appears that they all had a good time making the movie which might show in the movie.

I know that the little 9 year old inside me will always treasure the 80's G.I.Joe through comics, DVD's and that this movie is just an amalgamation of various Joe incarnations throughout the years.

I'm looking forward to watching it at midnight tonight, it's gonna be a fun ride, I grew up on the Joes (Snake Eyes Rocks):D:up: so I've been looking forward to seeing Snake and Storm Shadow on the big Screen!!!:D:up: I'm not too much of a stickler to the movie having to be 100% faithful to the source material, changes will always have to be made for one reason or another and since it's out of my hands anyways, no sense in dwelling on what could have been!!! I just simply enjoy the film maker's and actor's visions of the characters, most of the time I end up liking them but will always point out little things I would have changed or maybe done differently!!! Based on my comments I'm sure you can guess I'm not expecting Gone with the Wind, I do have a brain, I just put it on standby when I watch some of these summer blockbusters!!!:o:oldrazz::D

Weird... I'm starting to get the feeling like I might actually end up liking this movie after a summer chock full of disappointments (other than Star Trek and UP).

i have the lowest expectations for this film, but the good reviews are making me excited..damn baroness is a hottie

I am very excited, the film has looked good since the first pictures were released, imo.

If I go see this tomorrow and I literally get an erection during the film, then yes i will say it strangely excited me.
