What I'm actually asking is, is there any research/studies/tests being done on the roots of teeth that may eventually end most/all root canals?
If my science is correct, the body can heal/fight many forms of bacteria and diseases, but the roots in teeth cannot - hence why root canals are needed if bacteria get into the roots from a cavity.
Has anybody ever heard of any new research such as some injection into the root that may give a type of mummification to the root(s) in order to kill the bacteria and perhaps the root too so the need of root canals would not be needed, at least not as often. Or is there any opther research being done that will prevent root canals?
I ask this because I just had a root canal and while it's not really painful, it's not pleasant either, especially knowing what they're doing.
