If Candace is a shapeshifter than why does the background shimmer when she morphs? I think she has the ability to alter peoples perception rather than alter her own molecules. What are your thoughts?

I would have to agree with you. Her ability alter's her surroundings as well. She made Simone's body 'disappear', that's not shapeshifting!

She's an Illusionist.

From Wikipedia:

Candice Wilmer, played by Missy Peregrym, is first introduced in "Company Man." She works for Primatech Paper. After The Haitian flees, she is assigned as Bennet's new partner. She has the ability to create illusions (allowing her to alter her appearance, and, to an unknown extent, the appearance of the environment around her). She first impersonates Simone, hiding Simone's real body from view, with an illusion, in order to thwart the investigation of police.

In fairness, Wikipedia is written up by the fan of the show no different to your or I. It's word shouldn't be taken as gospel.

That said, I'd agree with what was said. Candice doesn't shapeshift. It's an illusion created by influencing the minds of those around her. I am however intrigued as to the extent of the illusions. If she can change people's perception of herself, then surely to she can change people's perceptions of anything she pleases. Completely distort the environment. It's a potentially very powerful power. I'd also like to see if she can have some affected by the illusion, whilst leaving others unaffected.

She's an illusionist. That's why when she was pretending to be Mrs. Bennet, she was able to hide the people from the Company.

Yep, although I think it's safe to say most of us were expecting to see a shapeshifter on the show.

She's so annoying that people simply black out her presence or replace it with something/someone less annoying.
:D

I always wondered where some of their descriptions came from.

I do find her extremely annoying but that character could be awsome with a better actress in the role. So far it seems as if she's only able to make herself appear as someone else and not the surroundings.

i didn't even know thsi was a question

its like asking if issac paints the future or imagines the whole thing

With a better actress she could be Mystique. Plain and simple. So far she's a violently unlikable Harley Quinn.

But nah, actually the actress is pretty cute. That's part of the problem for me. The actress is too cute to be evil. And when you have evil and cute together, the results are either brilliant or disastrous. So far for me, it has been the latter rather than the former. I think the writers should really work on this character. Even Eden managed to grow on me eventually.

Yeah. Wikipedia's good for basic information, and is easy access for random **** to read when your bored, but it's not really very reliable. For example, I once saw the opening paragraph of their article on immortality change three times in one day.

The real question is whether she phsyically creates these illusions, or whether she alters people's perceptions.

In other words, will a camera see her illusions? What about a person she doens't know is watching? Does she physically bend light so that it appears in such a way, or does she have to tap into someones mind somehow and make them think they're seeing something?

I know that Wikipedia is not the most reliable source but at the moment I couldn't find a better description of Candace's powers. I'm not sure which website would be a reliable source for heroes, besides the nbc website. And that website only describes only the main characters of the show.

but i like Harley Quinn. :csad:

This girl kinda annoys me a bit. I miss Eden...... :cmad:

She's just not a believable character and i think that's largely due to casting. Pretty weak, imo.

Why is that? Because she doesn´t look evil?

too young, too hot/sexy, too much of a smartass. i think it was poor casting. i think she's terrible. i think the character and ability is interesting, i just don't care for the execution, and that's pretty vital. on the other hand, Eden was very believable.

I think that makes her more interesting. The fact that you don't expect her character to act like she does.

expect...unexpected...doesn't really figure in to it. it's that it's not believable. characters can do things or have traits you don't expect of them, but it can still be believable. i don't think there is much thought behind the character.

i dont think its so much that this new characters is unbelievable as that fact that shes just diffrent and acts diffrent then eden and maybe shes not as good as actress as eden was but she does play the part like they write it

She is too hot/cute but whos to say that that's the real way she looks. Maybe its just a constant illusion to look atractive and maybe in her real form she's not so good looking. :cwink:
