Is FF2 gonna be more sci-fi?

This...is actually being discussed? I should start a thread questioning if this film will have special effects.

Why must you hate? :cmad:

I'm not sure if this has been discussed or not, but is this movie gonna be more sci-fi? Like...are we gonna be watching Silver Surfer traveling through different planets or something?

All superhero movies are science fiction unless it's an adventure hero such as Tarzan or even perhaps the batman

There’s an interesting book out there written by a real physicist named James Kakalios
(The physics of superheroes) check it out ya'll:word:

I'm sure he means more sci-fi as in not of this world kind of stuff. The characters used for this film is enough to show that thought.

Well, it is a dumb question. :O

Why man? In the first movie they're like, "oh we gotta make it look real." Now it seems like they said, "f--k it! Lets go full blown sci-fi."

The first movie was a full-blown Sci-Fi film, most of Marvel characters are.

Yes, but many filmmakers want to make them seem real. Dude, you know what I'm talking about! Its like what Bryan Singer did with the first two X-Men films. Make it seem real and s--t.

And when they attempt to make it real, it does indeed turn into ****.

Correct and besides the source of the material is a comic book, if they want real they should adapt some of other books.

Sometimes. Batman Begins was pretty good. :)

Well, tell Bryan Singer he failed, because none of that sh:t seemed real to me. You people and your realism bull with these fictional characters or/and powers and sometimes places.

Again...it doesn't matter how it seemed to you. We're talking about the intensions of the filmmakers.

It doesn't matter what intensions a filmmaker has with a property like this, no one but dumbass fanboys go yelling about REALISM in a Batman, Spider-Man, X-Men, Fantastic Four MOVIE, etc. I'd like to think most people don't really think realism when they're looking at a man made of Sand, Ice or Fire. Realism is the last thing on NORMAL people's mind when watching this stuff.

I would say the first movie, and the comics are clearly more Sci-Fi than fantasy. For instance:

Reed Richards is a scientist, not a wizard.
The Four gain their powers from a cosmic storm, not a magic spell.
The Silver Surfer's powers are explained on a molecular level.

All of this is done with pseudo-science, which borders on fantasy, but the intention is to make it seem based in reality. People really *do* get mutated by cosmic rays, it often results in skin cancer, not the ability to fly, unfortunately. :csad:

It's pure fantasy, Stan just used science to explain it back in the 60's because it was (vaguely) more believable than magic. Are Marvel Comics ever actually about science (fictional or otherwise)? No. They are about battles between good and evil, and soap operatics, chiefly romance.

The Surfer is an angel, and Galactus is a God - that was absolutely what Lee and Kirby intended. Galactus' coming was doomsday or the apocalypse. There are even scenes in the comic of fire in the sky.
