Is It Me, Or Are PG Movies Making a Comeback?

their two pg films i want to see is mall cop. it looks funny. i also want to see inked heart. its rated pg. i can't bleive their wasthree or four movies coming out rated pg. i think that good. cause i think some pg 13 moives should be rated R. i think it helps kids and adults. that way the moive not as bad.

The problem is not the rating itself (I think). It's obviously not a bad thing that there are some PG movies and PG13 and whatever. The bad thing is when they water-down (!) some movies that should be R or even PG-13 or whatever, just to get more money. Then they feel like half the movie they should've been..

So parents should pre-screen every movie? That sounds like a scam to increase BO revenue, to me... Don't give the MPAA any ideas!

Haha, I have heard people use that line whenever someone complains about a movie..."go see it for yourself first." All they're doing is giving them more money.

That's how I watched more movies as a kid. Watching movies was a family thing so we would all sit together in front of the tv.. whenever something bad-for-a-kid would come up, I'd look away until it was over :hehe: and I kid you not :funny:

Yeah, I did the same thing. None of my cousins who were barely any younger or older than me did the same.

I guess they were exposed to that sort of stuff differently than I was.

And I always looked away in the erotic/sex scenes--not at the violent ones. I turned out ok. I guess.

Ah, the good old "ripping that guy's head off is OK, but god forbid I see human bodies exposed in all their splendor!"

Although it's not specifically stated, I figure that you can show female breasts in a PG-13 movie if it's in no way sexual. In Titanic and Across the Universe, you see breasts but not sexually as the main character is drawing them.

Now showing some kids The Goonies nowadays....unless you as a parent were living under a rock for the past few decades you already know what that movie entailed. I still laugh seeing it in the kids section next to Mulan and Sleeping Beauty at Toys R Us. I won't discount that it is in fact a kids movie, because it is, but Columbus and Spielberg knew that's how a lot of kids talk, and have always talked.

Also, I just saw a commercial for that Isla Fisher flick Confessions of a Shopaholic....rated PG as well. This is getting weird.

Across the Universe is R, and Titanic got away with it somehow. I havent seen a single PG-13 film since then with any boobs at all.

I'm surprised Bride Wars is PG. I thought it would be PG-13

I respect your posts Rac, but I find this to be really naivie thinking. Film-Making is not like writing a story or painting a picture, its takes MILLIONS of dollars and major commitment. The biggest killer of any movies financial success is not having a core demographic in mind to be pitching it too. So say you're making a light-hearted romp for teenagers and the damn thing turns out to be R because of violence, you're ****ed. Thinking about the rating is very important and I'm sure they were thinking of Dark Knight and I'm sure there thinking about it for Terminator Salvation which I hope is R, but I don't know :(
Yeah, I know, I know.

But I guess you still know what I meant with my post.

The Abyss, which was also directed by James Cameron (and PG-13) had boobs in a non-sexual context as well. I think he must know something that other directors don't...

If **** are shown in a non-sexual/non-comedic fashion, I think people tend to let it slide. But you always have that guy that laughs uncontrollably at any nudity in a movie period, so you know.

They must think that the porn movies are the best comedies ever.
