Matt groening has said he see's no end in sight for the Simpsons and they still have loads of stories they'd like to do, i'm sure they have but they just are not funny anymore. I've recently been watching the new episodes and they are not a patch on the older stuff.

Personally i think (like south park) they should have some episodes that don't focus on the family, but the supporting cast where the Simpsons don't actually appear (i get it's called the Simpsons, but think it would be a nice change)

I also think it would be cool to see the characters now a little older, there'd me tons more stories if Bart, Lisa and Maggie were older, i'm not sure why they are keeping them at the same age when making them older would open up more possibilities.

New episodes just seem dull, boring and a chore even, is it not time for Groening and Fox to finish making it?

It's been time for awhile now...

No. A decade ago was a good time to end The Simpsons.

I own seasons 1-10 and that's good enough for me. I might get up to 13 if I find them cheap enough, but absolutely nothing beyond that.

It's sad because, for a while there, you were able to say "Yeah, it hasn't been good the last few years..." but as more and more time passes, the good years will become the minority, if they haven't already.

They will keep this alive as long as the ratings are good. And, well, they are. So, clearly there's still people out there who like this show.

The time to end this show was in the year 2000. That was the last year The Simpsons were relevant.

Now the bad episodes actually outnumber the good ones. Seasons 2-10 were gold 11 on were crap.

Greoning doesn't have dozens of stories to do, he just has plans for the royalty and merchandising money. From what I've seen onscreen he's been out of ideas for over a decade. But because Fox is afraid of killing this show and having a big hole in its Sunday night. (Let's face it Bob's burgers, The Cleveland Show and American Dad haven't actually been huge hits) they won't pull the plug on show they know has run its course.

I'd rather see a spin-off with self-contained episodes called "Springfield" which focused on the supporting cast members in the Simpsons universe like Skinner, Chief Wiggum, Ned Flanders and Spanish Bee over the current show today.

I still enjoy the series, but I wouldn't mind if it ends. Despite the internet, it's still more good than bad, and I haven't seen an episode that I'd say was completely bad.

Tomacco.

Frank Grimes Jr.

And any episode from seasons 11 on.

Tomacco was hilarious. As was the Frank Grimes saga. You're gonna have to be more specific, I don't differentiate between seasons.

I still enjoy Simpsons to this day but yes the quality has dropped very much so. I think the time has come for it to end.

Cracked.com had a great allegory for The Simpsons. It's like having a house guest that doesn't know that it's time to leave, but at the same time you don't want to ask them to leave because they've done a lot of great stuff. I think as a show, it's run its course. It's hard to keep a show fresh after 20 years. Family Guy is getting to that point too. South Park is still strong after 13 years, but that's because they only produce around 14 episodes a year and that also relies on current events for a majority of its episode plots. Back to The Simpsons, though. I did enjoy the movie. I thought that was the only worthwhile thing to come out of the show in the past 10 years or so (besides the DVD releases of the earlier seasons). While I do think the show should end soon, I wouldn't mind seeing a few more Simpsons movies in lieu of the show, especially if they're written by some of the writers who made the show great back in the day.

I think the main problem with The Simpsons now is that it's trying hard to be relevant. The pop Culture references,Celebrity guest stars almost every week,Movie/TV parodies.I wish they would focus more on better storytelling.

Fox just needs to wipe clean their entire Sunday animation block. Family Guy, Cleveland, Simpsons, Bob's Burgers are all just wretched. Simpsons was funny when it was edgy. Same with Family Guy. Now, they are all just using a formula that worked a decade ago and it isn't funny.

I still like the Simpsons and prefer it to Family guy and American dad. Sure, its not as good as as it was back in the day but it still beats most other comedy shows out there imo.

Just vote with your feet and don't watch it if you've lost interest and leave it at that.

I don't mind if people continue to wtch it but The Simpsons ended for me 14 years ago.

I think they should make the kids older, to open up some new ideas. Right now they are just recycling the same old jokes everytime.

I think they're afraid to age the kids because that could lead the show getting killed a lot sooner. I still love the simpsons and I will agree that the quality has dropped a little but I think the latest couple of seasons have been very good.

I wouldnt mind if it ended though it has been over 20 years of entertainment.

That doesn't work when it could be replaced by something better. Just accepting it and watching it because it is a ritual leads to complacency. It's obvious that they are just going through the motions with the show and Fox is keeping it on the air because it still makes money. Imagine if people just kept watching every show that started to suck and they kept it on the air because it still made money. SNL is another good example.

The only times I've watched The Simpsons in the past years is when Sideshow Bob shows up.

The Simpsons should've ended years ago like Charlie Sheen's career.

Honestly man, I think you may be on crack. I also think Simpsons has sucked the big one for the last ten years or so. But the Frank Grimes Jr episode is brilliant. Probably in my top 10 episodes ever.

And Tomacco isn't bad either.

Any episode focusing on Lisa, no matter what the season, usually sucks. Except if it involved Bleeding Gums Murphy. The 'Lisa becomes a vegetarian' episode is probably the ep I hate the most pre-season 10.
