For me, yes.

If you dont think so, which one do you consider gaining the status ?

"ever"? No!
I'll give Avengers the culmination of a shared U and group dynamic. And while there have been others before and after, for me the whole "You'll believe...." moment, happened with 1978 Superman, and it still holds that "Most Iconic" status over all, for a CBM .

Superman 78, Batman 66 & 89 and Spider-man 02 are as iconic.

"Iconic" is kind of a dubious term as it can mean a lot of different things for different people.

I don't know if it's the most iconic, but it's comfortably the best.

No it's not. Spider-man 2 and The Dark Knight are clearly far superior movies.

"Most iconic" and "the best" are completely different.

Oh sorry. That's your personal taste.

I think I have had TDK as the greatest CBM I have seen for a long time now but over the past 3 months I have seen a lot of John Campea videos on Avengers and I think having rewatched both movies over the last weekend, I am now leaning towards Avengers being the greatest CBM I have seen. And its definitely the most iconic IMO, although I should acknowledge the original Superman movie was well before my time.

No. I would say Superman '78, TDK, and Raimi's Spider-Man edge it out in iconic status.

Most iconic is debatable. I would say no and that TDK is probably the most iconic. But, it is my favorite.

As people are saying, 'iconic' needs some required definition before everyone's separate answer can be given. Most important ? Most influential ? Most vital for the genre to grow ?

I put a similar thread together covering the above questions for folks to debate and answer some time back and made it open field of choice.

Here we go....my thread with the same question (kind of)....

TBF iconic need not be just one movie. Movies of this genre have spanned across generations and every generation has its own iconic SH movie. That is how I would look at it. And there are the different routes you can take within the genre as well. For instance, Superman 1 is probably iconic for a different reason than Batman. And similarly with TDK and Iron Man. I guess the best you can say is Superman and Batman were THE iconic SH movies of the 70s and 80s and Spiderman, TDK, IM were of the noughties and Avengers has been for the 2010s.

The answer is presented well here, so I won't repeat it. It is however admirable to be the first comic book movie to break the $1.5 billion barrier.

No. I'd say Superman '78 and The Dark Knight share that title.

I would have no trouble saying The Avengers or Superman '78 is the most iconic. There are only a few comic book movies that have given me goosebumps while watching them in theaters. The Avengers was one of them. There are CBMs that thrill me but when a movie makes me feel like a kid again while watching it in theaters it's put up on another level for me. The Avengers gets extra points because I was a thirty-something and still had the same awestruck feeling I had when I saw Superman '78 when I was young. No other CBM prior to or after TA has done that.

Asking the question at the wrong time. Now? probably not, but in 10 years a lot of people will say yes.

I enjoyed The Avengers, but the Dark Knight is pretty iconic (considered by quite a few to be the best of the era), even if I think the hype exceeds parts of the movie.

Superman, and TDK are the most iconic, IMO,but Avengers is still one of the best CBM's,

The first Spider-Man movie and TDK are the most iconic. The Avengers is in third place though.

I could say the movie "iconic" just by how quotable it is and how people still talk about it years later.

So I think TDK is more iconic. I can quote the entire movie and people still remember it even now, and it's been 10 years already. Iconic.

I don't know if it's the most iconic, but it's comfortably the best.

Quoted for truth.
