Not sure where to put this so I'm putting it here, but this question has been in my head for a little while. Does anyone else think that is modern Disney (at least from 2004 to now) subliminal?

I believe they are, but in a subliminal message sense and in a active sense (you know when you see it before your own eyes).

I may join in this discussion, but I'm gonna have to ask you to elaborate.

For starters, the subliminal stuff that's shown in their shows or films, because I've seen a part of one of their HSM films and they had the main female character dressed as a maid, being bossed around. Isn't that subliminal enough? Or is that saying something else?

I think Disney movies historically have included poor messages, but it's hardly subliminal. Let's look at every Disney movie that includes a female character who entire being revolves around a man.

Did a Disney movie subliminally make you make this thread?:D

This reminds me of the Nostalgia Chick's reviews of The Little Mermaid and Pocahontas

I agree with Majic Walrus. Disney has always been this way, hell just look at Alice in Wonderland and Bambi.

I think that if you investigate deep enough, you might find some racist undertones to Disney's Song Of The South. It's quite subtle though.

Song of the South is still banned in the US

I've heard this, but I don't believe it. How can Uncle Remus's old timey ways be racist?

People suggest that the tar babies are racist...but you're right...it seems a bit of a stretch to me.

I'm proud to own a complete digital copy of that movie. :)

I SWEAR that Aladdin says "Good teenagers take their clothes off." I heard it, dammit!

I don't understand why jokes abound that Walt Disney didn't like Jewish people, the recent refference that I can think of it is in the Family Guy episode in which Stewie and Brian are stuck in the Disney universe.

Mickey Mouse is an antisemitic symbol, duh.

Tron, I just want to let you know that nothing I've said in this thread is serious.

I thought this was the movie boards, not sure how I wondered in here. Weird.

Are you being serious now, or are you not being serious now?

By the way...me too, of course.

It's been more than half a since century so god only knows if it's true, but word has it that Walt Disney was a bit of a Nazi sympathizer back in the 40's.

so does Disney hate n****** and jews?? is that what we're going for here?? that Disney wants women back in the kitchen, barefoot and pregnant??

Because I'm not sure if any of you guys noticed, their most popular shows over the past several years had a female as the lead

That's So Raven
Lizzie McGuire
Hannah Montana
Wizards of Waverly Place
Sonny With a Chance

I don't know about Jews, but Walt Disney hated homosexuals. He personally fired the boy from Old Yeller when the studio found out he was gay.

Some old Disney cartoons are blatantly racist, but that might just be a sign of the times.

But as far as subliminal....if you ask me, Disney has ALWAYS been subliminal.
