With the big Elektra reveal in New Avengers 31 that sets up Marvel's 2008 big event and the whole"who can you trust"angle,I figure I would make this thread to get everyone's opinion, especially since I came across these two tidbits.

From Wizard Magazine article with Brian Michael Bendis about what Marvel characters could be Skrulls.Scanner broke so I will type the Osborn part.

Bendis says: "Has a completely new role in the Marvel Universe with a lot of influence where his job is to literally to take heroes out.He can pick which ones to eliminate to help the invasion.Or he's just crazy and has weird hair.(LAUGHS)"

Skrull Or No Skrull?:The Original Green Goblin's miraculous recovery and return after decades of absence has never been explained beyond a vague healing factor and a long trip to Europe.Norman has a profile as well as resources in both his civilian and villainous lives the Skrulls would find appealing.

and this is from the Comic -Con Spider-Man panel this past weekend

Will readers see Norman Osborn in Amazing, given his role in Thunderbolts? "Why do you assume that's really Norman Osborn," Wacker replied.

and Wacker added that there are plans for the classic villains, hinting that something will be going on with that in June 2008.

Even though I prefered Norman staying dead,I don't think he should be a skrull, and plus Bendis has stated in interviews how Ralph Macchio told him killing Norman Osborn was the biggest mistake Marvel made with Spider-Man back then.So I don't think he would retcon the resurrection.

Probably will be hinted at but im hoping this Skrull stuff stays out of the Spider-Man books.

Wacker is just saying that to throw people off, considering Norman's Pete fixation and need for medication behind closed doors it's definately not an imposter but I bet Norman knows who is. He seemed afraid of Stark in that one issue of Frontline but that might not have been Stark after all.

Bringing Norman back... Big mistake.

Making Norman a skrull.... Bigger mistake.

Being Joe Q... Priceless.

I saw some of the Comic-con on Sunday where Joe Q was likcing his chops over this storyline. The sad thing is that in the right hands, this and even Civil War could have been great stories ala The Kree-SKrull War. But because of Joe's gluttony to milk a story for all its worth and then some, this is probably going to be more crap.

Civil war might be the *only* company-wide crossover I've liked since Joe Q took over. I've genuinely enjoyed it. But my enjoyment is tainted by the fact that all the events it's spawned (Spidey's unmasking, Cap's death, Iron-Hitler, even registration) will eventually be retconned.

But having said that, it's a DAMN sight better than House of M and the other crap that's happened. Atleast this storyline was semi-coherent. And it's given us some good spin-off stories like Back in Black, World War Hulk, new Thunderbolts and the stuff that's happened in Captain America.

Agreed. I thought Civil War was riveting.

I think he will end up being a skrull, even though I hope not. It'll pretty much be a repeat of the clone saga. Fans will be wondering; "What? So all this time the guy who's been tormenting Peter and destroying his life is a lie?!" It would honestly be a bunch of BS and a ig spit in the face of all Spider-man fans. And considering all the story arcs we've had to take up the ass lately, this won't be the first time we've had to wipe saliva off our chins.

If he is how do you explain his prescription needs and mental state in thunderbolts? Now I know @hitty writing is the obvious excuse but I just don't see it happening.

Well, I said it would be complete BS, but I can see Bendis or JQ doing it. After seeing the crappily written Dr.Strange in New Avengers, Sins Past, and Clone Saga, you can't tell what marvel will do next.

True, I just really hope their not just giving bendis whatever he wants.

Two Avengers titles, the ultimate Spider-man comic, House of M, letting him re-write Dr.Strange which ever way he wants, Cho as an artist on one of his books, and I think there are other things I'm forgetting. Yeah, he's practically Editor in Chief now.

Listen, stop trying to make me cry. Although I am a fan for the most part of his USM run...

I like USM also....
And honestly, I hope they don't make him a skrull.

Agreed. I thought Civil War was riveting.
Huh... different strokes I guess.

The Civil War... I thought the premise was full of illogical holes, found the politics eye-rolling and alternated between irritated, indifferent and BORED to tears by the whole mess...

Back in Black has been good though. Probably because the focus is back on Spidey where I like it to be.

Captivated, might I add, I love the quote in your signature along with the links in it
spidey_thumbs.gif

Been wanting to tell you that for a while

Norman might not be a Skrull but he might play a small part in the bigger picture.

I remember Bendis saying over at his message board how he wants to revisit Mark Millar's MK Spider-man story where big business created supervillains and that Norman would appear.

In New Avengers it seems Bendis is going to tie all the last couple of years events together .Like MK villains theory, Secret War,the villain breakout at the Raft caused by Electro, the Hulk's exile, and Civil War etc.

I guess these events will connect into the big crossover for next summer. The Skrulls have probably been taking advantage of these events to further their plans. IMO.

Oh great... Skrulls... first clones now skrulls... what's next the brood? alternate dimension version of X character?

Yep and yep. Too many plot holes and SEVERE mischaracterizations. I'm fascinated when old-schoolers (like the good Cap'n above) find characters acting TOTALLY contrary to 40 years of back-story "riviting." Bizarre.

Ah well... I guess I'll just have to be happy with having another opportunity to call Joey Q entirely appropriate names based on his behavior. At least Skrull- Goblin never has to find a place to change into his suit!:whatever:

Why can't you respect the fact he enjoyed the story, as he respects the fact you don't? If you don't like the story, fine. But don't imply other people are "bizarre" for liking it. Keep your comments to the storyline.

Oooo... lookout, it's the self-appointed thread police.

No one was disrespecting anyone. You might want to read posts more carefully... and then RESIST the urge to dictate commands. Just a suggestion.
