It seems like as of late most of our technical marvels are just extensions of what's already there. The last couple of decades have mainly been about the internet and expanding upon it via video games, tv, and communication. Where are the type of people that actually invented television, the car, and what not? There have been inventions, but mostly stuff done for fun and whimiscal type ****, nothing really game changing.

Well it could be that nothing really game changing is needed right now. I'm not necessarily that that's the case, just a theory I came up with off the top of my head.

It just seems redundant now. Here's a new way to access the internet, and here's another way to use the internet in conjunction with this. I want my George Jetson car. :cmad:

Most inventions have always been extensions of other things. The fact that I can watch a 1000 different movies, read my e-mail, do business transactions, and about a million other things from a phone with no cords is Star Trek science fiction. I think we are more innovative then we've been in decades.

Someone needs to create a faster and safer way of air-travel. Im tired of having to get liquored up and essentially knock myself out so I don't have to deal with the people, the time, or worry about my safety when I fly across the country.

Man, you should try going from London to Los Angeles as your first ever flight while having the worst cold/sore throat combo of your life. That was not a fun journey :csad:.

Think about how long it took to get from horse and buggy to cars. That's a long time. We're used to a faster pace because of all the things that have come about in the past 100 years or so. I think we're still expanding on them but your right I want warp drive

That's your problem. Air travel is very safe, and if you're asking for private personal air travel, it's only going to get more dangerous.

Space exploration and colonization is what the human race should be focusing on heavily, as well as finding ways to help various cultures in terms of health, food, etc.

All inventions are really just extensions of whats always around. Even things we think of as leaps or as major advances in technology did not pop up out of nowhere, they were developed over a long span of time.

There have been a lot of advances in nano technology in recent years as well as trying new ways and completely different materials from which we could make computer systems capable of quantum computing.

Not only as much as it used to be, but more so.

Each time I fly I'm just paranoid of technical failure. Of course statistically it's still the safest way to travel but each time I turn on the news and see a plane crash it looks like one of the most horrific things I've ever seen.

At least create some huge ass parachutes or something that will ease my worrying. :o

That's because you're falling out of the sky in a giant metal tube.

Exactly.

Until my safety is "guaranteed" I will always hate flying... or until they invent those big ass parachutes.

I always watch the Pilot episode of LOST before I fly.

The Jetsons were racist. Tell me how many black people you saw on that show.

I always sit next to the man who arrived in the wheelchair.

I try to sit next to a middle aged black woman whose husband just happens to be in the restroom through the turbulence!

The husband is always in the restroom with some rock guy. Who knows what they get up to in there.

I think we've done pretty ok in the past 30 years.....especially in the communications industry....when I was in HS, pagers were the shizz and you needed dial up for the internet....

now we have smartphones
