I wouldn't say that it's a good idea to risk everything on the creative / artistic path. It's quite possible to do well enough in school and hold down at least an average regular job while focusing on doing what you really want to get paid for.

for those interested in becoming writers you need two books, in my opinion. stephen king's "on writing: a memoir of the craft" and strunk and white's "The elements of style"

for the hard core writers in here im sure they will be like no **** sherlock, but for those of you aspiring writers, those books definately help.
Great advice in that book

Ya's donts need too knew how to speel if you join the armie.

Wait, Canadian armed forces?...****. I need to learn french...again.

Well, I really don't have anything I want to do besides be a musical theatre actress. I could be a scriptwriter or director, but I don't yet have the technical knowledge to do that. Maybe in the future.

I'm an artist and get payed plenty of money for it (and the possibility to make a lot more) and I work in an office... being an artist doesn't mean you have to move to soho, smoke cigarettes, and live the penniless bohemian lifestyle.

I'm a writer. I can't even finish one story without starting a new one.(too many ideas) It's one life(writing) or the other.
