Now that Blade: The Series has been cancelled, do you think the franchise is over? If not, where or how do you think the Blade franchise can be resurrected?

The big screen and small screen for Blade may be over for now but, it's possible they'll do a movie reboot someday. That would be the only way to make Blade recognizable to the general public again someday. However, I'm sure that won't happen for another 5-10 years.

Blade is dead...

...for now.

Tough call to say if it's over for good. I could see Goyer pushing for either a TV movie or maybe even a part 4 to cap off the series. Now wether or not it would be Snipes is another question. I'd say he isn't or he would have taken the show when they offered it to him. Either way, I'm cool with Sticky now. At least we have the new comic...

No. I think the series will be picked up by someone else.

The newest comic sucked bad.

I hope and pray the series will get picked up by someone else. As for a movie, I don't see it happening in the near future. Someday...maybe.

I don't anticipate seeing the Daywalker anytime soon. He's enjoyed more screen ventures than just about any little-known character that can't even keep a book on the shelves for more than 6 months. And Spike dropped the ball here.

Hopefuly FX or SciFi picks it up, but I'm not holding my breath or anything.

I would love it if FX picks it up. Their shows are the best on tv by a long shot.

FX is extremely unlikely; it's a Fox affiliate whereas New Line is a Time-Warner affiliate. As for Sci-Fi, I have no doubt that Blade will eventually find a home there; in reruns.

Marvel sharpens 'Blade'

By JEROME MAIDA
For the Daily News

With seemingly continual news of yet another comic book being turned into a film, it is worth noting that the genre was in questionable health following 1997's poorly received "Batman and Robin." Back then, many wondered whether Marvel would ever release a decent or successful movie based on one of its characters or properties.

Then Wesley Snipes brought a character named Blade to life on the silver screen. Suddenly, Marvel was rolling, and still is - 21 films based on its characters are in development or production.

However, despite the success of that first "Blade" film and its two sequels, Marvel's attempts to capitalize on the character's mainstream popularity by launching new comic series have quickly failed. The character's last two book series did not last past six issues.

Now, even though a "Blade" series on Spike TV was recently canceled after 13 episodes, Marvel is trying "Blade" again as a comic.

This time, Marvel may have hit the jackpot.

"Blade No. 1," released last week, was a strong premiere issue. One need look no further than its credits to realize why. Writer Marc Guggenheim, still kicking butt on "Wolverine," brings the same quality to "Blade." In fact, Guggenheim's plan for the book is what enticed comics legend Howard Chaykin to draw the series. Chaykin's art here ranks with the best of his career.

If there is one complaint, it is that Guggenheim may be trying to move too fast and pack in too much in each issue. In No. 1, we get a vampiric Spider-Man, Dracula and a grade-school classroom full of kids-turned-vampires - all in the first five pages! Toss in a S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier full of vampires and a series of flashbacks and there isn't a lot of room for depth.

Nonetheless, the issue is exciting and beautiful. With this creative team, an appearance by Doctor Doom next issue, and a Civil War tie-in down the road, it is clear that Marvel is doing the best it can to make people aware of the book and have it succeed. Now all you have to do is buy it.

lmao, that reveiw is a horrible lie. the first issue sucked ass on all accounts. horrible art, horrible story. this guy clearly did'nt read or look at the issue. chaykin's art is horrid, if thats the best of his career, i can see why he's no where near the level of the most popular artist. man, that review really exaggerates.

The Daywalker has enjoyed some good big and small screen adventures, it's time for him to take a break though. It was a mistake on Spike's end to cancel the series, but oh well, it happens.

The Blade show got cancelled? Haha, fantastic.

It was over after blade trinity. The third movie of blade was a dissapointment and even the i gave sticky fingas a chance I knew it was going to blow.

They should've done a prequel. Casted and teenage blade and have whistler and the other vampire hunters train him and an army of vampire hunters and focus on a particualr group for the storyline. Blade and maybe 5 to 6 other hunters and then have them throughout the story learning and hunting vampires. and go deep into the vampire world explaining the differences between the pure bloods level headedness and the turned victims erratic behaviors and the different levels of familiars. Maybe at some point have one of blades crew mates learn about what he is because whistler tells blade to keep that part of his life from himself and along the way the other hunters see how strong blade is and is like WTF?

Blade needs his own villians in the comics like the movies.

or better yet a series of PAPERBACK NOVELS

For this version of Blade, yes its over, and I'm glad. This version of Blade has kinda worn down on me.

I just hope that Blade doesn't end up going the direct-to-DVD route.

You mean like the Crow, w/all the throwaway sequels?

I think the franchise dies when Snipes wasn't blade anymore...
