We've had a lot of conflicting reports saying "yes" or "no", so I just wanted to gauge you guys' feelings on the likelihood of the deal as it stands now. So, yes or no, guys?

Yes, but that's just a guess. I really don't know what the heck is going on anymore to be honest. I just want my spiderman films, I don't care which anymore.

Absolutely nothing is certain. It's a matter of weighing what's most likely in your own eyes.

But there wouldn't be a challenge! Just go with what your gut and/or head tells you.
Sounds good to me. Imagine if Sony is still visiting the boards to see what fans think... and they say, "Hey, 95% of people think the deal is going to happen. Why don't we just go ahead with Sinister Six just to piss them off?" :D

I would think that, except I doubt Sony gives enough of a **** about the fans to bother checking forums. If the deal happens, it'll be for business reasons on Sony's end, pure and simple.

I definitely think the deal is still alive, in fact I think there's a good chance it's already happened. If the studios truly wanted to deny these rumors, they'd actually cast this thing and remind people it's still alive. There's no signs of life here as far as the TASMverse goes.

Unless they announce the S6 and TASM3 casts in bulk like Suicide Squad (which I don't really see happening), I think the deal is still on the table. There's too much evidence pointing towards that. Not a certainty, just the more likely of the two scenario.

At SDCC, Avi Arad said that he and some other people from Sony go on message boards each morning, "get a drink," and take a look at what people have to say.

Gosh I hope you're right.

I think we are in for a reboot of some kind, it's just a matter of being connected to the MCU or a new standalone series.

Something tells me if Sony was rebooting again, we'd hear a bit sooner. That's just me though.

I'm very excited for the future of spiderman, even though nothing is confirmed. If they can't land an MCU deal, which there's a good chance they already have, hopefully they take a hands-off approach and let the directors and writers put out a good movie. Maybe that's impossible for sony, but if they can't find terms with marvel they have no choice.

Damn straight. You cast your vote, bruh?

Anything is possible with Sony. For instance:

Spider-Man 4 was cancelled on the same day that a reboot was announced. They were planning a reboot all along and I think Sam Raimi confirmed that later on.

And if Sony fails again, they will be forced to make a deal with Marvel.

True. But we did get John Malkovich confirmed before that. We've had zero confirmed about S6.

Again Sony only thinks with their wallets, the only real wallet stuffing option they have is to cut a deal. This goes down.

That is true. I know they got pretty far into pre-production of SM4 before it was cancelled. I don't know if they made as much progress with S6.

Hopefully they are smart enough to know that.

I think a deal is more beneficial for Sony, so yes.

I agree Sony NEEDS this deal; however don't underestimate how beneficial this deal would be for Marvel as well. Bringing home their flagship character and chief money maker would be a huge win for the MCU. Yes it's true that Marvel doesn't NEED him but boy do they WANT him.
