Ever one acts like the movie is so chessy even though sm 1-3 are far more chessy. Is this movie really that chessy? The only thing I found chessy was the its my birthday line and the max talking to him self in his apartment and maybe spider man having the fish with him in his room but I found that one funny.

The cheese isn't the problem. Spider-Man should have a bit of cheese.

The problem is Peter Parker's lack of growth as a character, the pointless plot threads that over complicate the story and take focus away from Pete. And of course the lame as hell villains with weak motivations and characteristics.

I like a bit of cheese it gives a comic book feel plus MCU movies has some cheese in them

Dr Kafka was too much though. It was like a scene from Batman and Robin.

The 2 biggest complaints I have heard by fans and cretis is that the movie is to chessy and that the story is a mess and to much going on. The story is really not that messy and really not that much going on. Peter and gwens relationship and peter trying to find out more about his parents I don't see how that is to much going one. Harry didn't want to die and was despert I don't find that a week villain or weak motivations. Rihno is a weak villain in the comics and was a great way to end the movie so no problem there. Electro felt like he was betrade and like ever one disrespected him I don't find that weak. The villans while not has good has doc ock in sm2 are still good in this movie.

I don't find Dr kafka chessy what was so ever. He was just doing test what is chessy about that? It wasn't like he was saying a lot of one liners or something. Aronold has more of a accent then kafka and I don't find people saying that aronold is a chessy actor.

No, it's not really that cheesy. It has two or three "Wha?" moments, but the big flaws lie somewhere else. Bad plotting, so-so action, lack of focus. If it didn't suffer from that, the cheese would be way less noticeable, more passable. Maybe even meaningless.

Looking at Max Dillon having a whole friggin' scene where has a make believe conversation with Spidey (heck just look at Max Dillon himself) sums up just how cheesy this movie is.

But it's far from being the movie's only problem. The Endless summed up the other ones nicely.

The cheese in Raimi movies fit seamlessly with their tone.

ASM 2 oscillates between Iron Man like natural, ad libbed conversation, and Batman forever like over-the-top-ness. It feels like we are switching between two different movies.

Raimi's trilogy was the perfect cheesy for Spider-Man. TASM2 was just...kind of dumb at points.

Well, it's definitely one of the cheesier Spidey flicks. Maybe even cheesier than SM1.

The problem with ASM2 is that it the tone was schizofrenic.

Yeah, it's beyond cheesy. Max Dillion talking to himself? Hell, even parts of the score (which I like overall) has its moments...mainly the lyrics parts though. Rhino and Kafka was something from lifted straight a Schumacher / 90s' James Bond movie....only worse. Look to SpideyK's avatar (unless he changes it before anyone sees this post) for another reference of how over-the-top this film was.

There should be some cheese in a Spider-Man film, but this was way too much.

What the f**k did you just f***ing say about my avvy?

Jk. Oh, well, it's definitely over the top, but I didn't really mind it. It's funny.

Look, unlike most of the guys in this thread, I did like the movie, but I'm not blind to the wtfs. Mainly, the schizo tone.

Lol SpideyK, you know we cooo. I wasn't talking about the quality of the avvy itself, just the scene featured in it. :oldrazz:

Lol, I know. We ice cool.

I still don't mind the scene itself, though. Yes, it's pretty wtf not enough to bother me. At all.

There's way weirder s**t in the movie.

Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner! That essentially sums up the movie's problems in one post.

I feel like I should chime in, but everyone has already hit the nail on the head, lol.

I mean, I laughed because it was so random lol but i didn't hate it. It was just one of the over-the-top moments in the film.

Blame that on the writers. When you have the guys who also wrote for the Transformers movies then you should expect some ADHD cheese.

That was about the only thing I found chessy in the movie and it was like a minute long. I don't think a movie is chessy when like 3 minutes of a 130 minute movie are chessy. While I think XMEN DOFP is a great movie I found the since with the fast guy in the kitchen far more chessy then anything in this movie that made me face palm.

For the love of god, Cheesy

Chee-sy

CHEESY

Also, for more cheesiness, there's Goblin, Kafka, Rhino, and pretty much every second of Electro on screen.

What was chessy about gobin? That line about spider man being a frod? Its a spider man movie they are not going to have him say f you spider man or something in a spider man movie what else should he have said? What else was so cheesy about goblin. Rhino I didn't really find cheesy but he was in the movie for like 5 second and he is a cheesy villain in the comics any way.
