With all the unhappiness where does the blame go? In Marvel Kevin Fiege is running the show. In Disney KK is. Should she be fired? Or is she a genious? I don't understand why her films can't be told well or why she can't hire decent directors.

The movie is gonna crack a billion next week, as much as I dont like her running star wars she is producing serious cash for disney. She isnt going anywhere

The statement of absolute certainty in the first post with no regard to reality, BO of these films and the success of TFA, RO, REBELS and now, yes TLJ... I'm sorry I cannot take such a small minded yet sweeping statement with an ounce of seriousness.

PS I myself have thought critically about Kennedy's time running Lucasfilm too... But the first post is just stupid.

She is 2/3 in movies that i loved and will be 3/3 in movies that made over 1b.
Is she doing everything perfect. Nope but she is doing a really good job so far.
But she needs to get a tighter grip on the overarching story and make her directors follow her lead. This disconnect between JJ and RJ can't happen again.

She's no Kevin Fiege, she's a suit, while Fiege is more of a hybrid of creative and suit.

Kennedy isn't a creative, though. And she makes it clear her role isn't in creating the story.

She does know what makes a good movie. And she knows disaster when she sees it, and will get rid of those that need to be in order to protect the brand.

And it is clear that she isn't going to go the Feige way, forcing Star Wars to have a house style. And let creatives have enough freedom to try things that could grow the universe.

What??? She just signed Rian Johnson on to another 3 movies after he put out a mediocre movie in TLJ.

That's the issue. She doesn't know how to create. Why is she the main person in charge?

Look at her production credits. She isn't a creative, but she has damn well learned what makes a good movie.

The idea that KK is any part of whatever problems people are having with the Star Wars franchise is outrageous.

Yep, it's all her fault that they'e produced three billion dollar films that have all recieved critical raves. She's running the franchise into the ground, better kick her out before she runs the whole thing straight into the ground! :o

You really have no idea how movies have been made for a century now, do you? Do you think every studio has been headed up by former directors or screenplay writers?

No. But at least they know what they are doing.

No, Simply put there financially where they are supposed to be.

If the third movie takes backlash (which I highly doubt since JJ played it safe with episode 7, imagine episode 9 is the same.), then we might see a bit of a change up.

However, I imagine Disney is going to look at the Star Wars universe being very similar to how the MCU is being run, with them eventually hitting 1-2 movies a year, and telling different aspects of it expecting about 500-800 million a movie, and away from the mega block busters (like TFA/TLJ/Episode 9[most likely]) will be.

And then they will produce event like films (Infinity Wars style), but for star wars, and they'll be considered a success from a financial standpoint.

The only thing that will currently stand in there way is how long people continue to trust the current crop of critics vs the fans. I imagine once a different type of system is implemented we might see a shift from this style of execution, but as of right now its brilliant.

Also, I think the statement "Kathleen Kennedy's fault" well, its her fault they are doing financially well? Then yes, that is the case.

The films are not going well.

According to you? Not according to critics, most fans or BO. And you still don't have an answer as to how all these studios have been operating for years without being run by directors or writers or actors. The answer is obvious to anyone over the age of 17 but alas...

There have clearly been some issues behind the scenes with directors and creative differences. Kennedy has been involved in that, but she's not at all the only one, just as she isn't the only one responsible for this movie. If you want to hate on someone for it, hate on Rian Johnson. All Kennedy and the other suits did was give him carte blanche to make the movie he wanted to make. You may hate it, but there's something to be admired about that.
