Rumors keep spinning like a web. I wonder though, is this just fanboy talk or a real possibility? :shr: Tobey is going to be 40 in June. Would he play a mid 30's version of Spider-man? If they were to actually drop Garfield, I can not see fans wanting yet another origin film of this with a reboot. Continuing the story with an experienced Spidey would be something different though. :spidey:

I don't think so. I guess Andrew has much more possibilities to reprise his role.

As much as I would've liked a proper Spider-man 4, I don't want this to be it and I highly doubt it will be.

That said, I'm curious as to how they'll shoehorn in Spidey this far into the narrative of the MCU. He's kind of a big player to just come out of nowhere.

Now that an MCU deal is happening, no. But otherwise if they wanted to go back and continue the Raimi films then I could see him returning as Spidey. Won't ever happen though.

He is too damn old

Why does there need to be an origin film? They can skip all of that and have him established already with dialogue/possible flashbacks alluding to how he got his start. We dont need yet another film focused on that

He played a 20-21 year old at the age of 31 in SM3. He is currently 39 years old, so he can easily play a 30 year old Peter Parker. You can easily say that Hugh Jackman has gotten too old to be playing a character that doesn't really age if anything.

I'm on the "make Peter a teenager" train. So no, I want longevity with this new Spidey. He will be the future of the MCU!

Wolverine ages; he just does so at a much slower rate than everyone else. He works bc he's played the character over more than 150 years continuity and there hasnt been much aging in that span

I would hope that Spiderman wont only be in the 2017 film but be around for years pat that. I think it would be a mistake to get Tobey back bc he would be in his 40s for that. I think they should go with someone in their 20s. I really think they should play up the youth of the character compared to the older more established heroes

Wolverine ages slowly but Hugh Jackman is getting old really fast.

Anyways I wasn't suggesting that they should put Tobey's Spider-Man in the MCU. I am just saying that, in theory, it "could" work if the deal didn't go through.

Wolverine is supposed to look in his late 40's.

His healing powers only slow down aging.

The extent of which I agree with this is limited only by the smilie limit on this site.

Spider-Man could carry the MCU for the next 15 years. If he's good, and CBM's remain popular, I cannot see why this could not be the case.

Why would you make him old? Start young, and lets experience Peter all the way until he's married MJ

You missed my point

I think going back to Tobey's SM would be confusing and unnecesary

And with the MCU Spider-Man we may finally get to see that happen! This is going to be the definitive version of Spidey on screen.

I think you missed my point in addressing Tobey's age. But it doesn't matter because it's not happening. MCU Spider-Man is here.

No to Tobey.

and not just because he'll be in his 40's.

There has to be someone better at playing Peter Parker and Spider-man on the planet Earth than Garfield or Maguire.

Heck, I could probably find a couple at my local mall. :o

There's no way in hell we're gonna have the same guy play Spidey for 15yrs. He will eventually grow tired of it and want to move on.

We'll be lucky if he stays past 5 films. His 3 solo films, and 2 team-up films.

they would never chose Tobey now, it's too much of a risk in many ways

Marvel will most likely play this in the favor of variety. what I mean by that is, there isn't yet any teenage heroes in MCU. therefore young Peter will suit their world much better

but I want a Tobey cameo. Even if it's a super corny reference like him seeing Spidey in action and saying "I bet that guy eats his vegetables"

Well looking at how long RDJ has been playing Iron Man, you never know how long this Spidey guy will stick around for.

Hugh Jackman is getting close to 15 years now?

He's up to 13 isn't he?
