Istanbul Airport attack

Brussels copycats?

The number of deaths will probably go up to between 20 and 30.

Well so far 10 are dead and only 6 more are seriously injured. It doesn't seem like the fatalities will get that high.

Oh. I guess the report I read exaggerated things. Anyhow, it sucks.

Well on the whole 60 people have been injured but the news report I watched said 6 of those were serious.

Does the mainstream media always cover bombings in Turkey?

New report confirms my estimate. Death count climbs to 28.

What the hell is up with this year....

ISIS, aside from some shocking tragedies. They probably have active death cells in Europe and elsewhere. Probably hiding behind the migrant waves flooding Turkey into Europe. Once single men in their mid to late 20's realize they have limited employment prospects and can't realistically land a hot European white chick, they resort to radicalism. That's my theory.

Ban the male migrants 16 years old and over. It's a cruel world, but you can't possibly vet all these guys and the wives they choose to bring over.

We should also ban white males from schools and movie theaters too! :o

Yes, but that would be horrible for business, so a resounding NO.

Banning grown men that can add little economically to a western economy (as most are poorly educated in the war torn areas) actually makes sense. Take the children as they are at least moldable, ban the single adult males.

Unfortunately it's kind of becoming a monthly event.

Not exactly surprising, considering ISIS is right down the street, and the Turks are bombing them, and their enemies, the Kurds.

Actually, it's a daily event. And a lot of the time, it's multiple attacks on the same day throughout the world. The vast majority of the attacks aren't covered in the West. There was another suicide attack today at a mosque in Abu Ghraib, and it killed 14, injured 32. Yesterday in Yemen, 4 suicide bombers killed 42, injured 30, etc, etc.

This **** goes on just about every day. In the last 30 days, there's been 220 attacks, in 30 different countries around the world, where 2125 people have been killed, and 1698 have been injured. That's just the last 30 days.

Yup. These populations can't even stand each other and aim to kill other Muslims indiscriminately. At some point, when you look at those numbers, "a few bad apples" doesn't remotely categorize the pervasive conflict and vitriol.

To think what is going to happen to those economies as the world becomes less dependent on foreign oil for energy. They are going to pump more and more for less and less and then it's going to be them depending on western resources to pay for their water needs.

Well, I meant in Turkey.

I am truly worried. I am going to Turkey at the end of July for 11 days, but I don't know if I want to go anymore. It's not Istanbul but it is a popular tourist destination in Turkey. It is making me paranoid. I keep thinking of terrible situations :( I am going during a time when it is the school holidays so I assume a lot of groups of families will be vacationing, which could possibly make it a location of interest by terrorists!! :(

I am so worried. I know I will be on edge for the whole time there. I don't think I'd get a refund though if I cancelled.

Looks like the AP and other news agencies are now reporting 31 dead but haven't updated their wounded total because of the sheer amount of carnage they're finding.

My mom, my brother, my sister, and her husband were gonna be in that very terminal tomorrow. That's really brought it home for me.

I wonder what religion the killers practiced. Hmm...

Just enjoy it man. Be vigilant at the major transportation areas. Hopefully you won't be at bus stops the whole time. Ride with the shady locals and gypsies, you will at least get the full cultural experience.

Outbound? They cancelled or postponed? Delayed?

Not that it's any of my business or I'm worried about finding myself in a similar situation, but I'm assuming the airport is shut down for a few days? What happens in those situations for non refundable airfare? Airline gives you a full refund anyway? What about advanced payments for tourist destinations on a particular date? Is that a case by case base?
