WETA did an AMAZING job with the visual effects! This movie will definitly be nominated. You can count on that!

No...

Silver Surfer and Galactus looked good...Human Torch looked good for the most part. In fact alot of the effects looked decently good.

But Mr. Fantastic was crap. He looked completley fake 99% of the film.

Yeah I'll agree Mr Fantastic didn't look that good but it didn't really bother me, Silver Surfer and Galactus looked amazing. Human Torch looked good too.

Hmmmm....It could possibly get to the preliminaries, but it'll never make it through the final cut of nominations. Just like with the X-Men movies..

Exactly. Also, let us not forget that Spider-Man 2 won the Oscar for Visual effects even though Spidey looked like crap every so often.

Then Spidey 3 will win!! he ha!!

Not if Pirates has anything to say about it. I never said FF:ROTSS was gonna win. All I'm saying is that its likely to get nominated. Spidey 3 and Pirates 3 are likely to be nominated as well. Of the three I think Pirates has the edge.

The thing that bugged me out is why they never explained how Reed could expand his body while also expanding the clothing and shoes that he wore..

Thats right! :wow: In the club scene he was wearing normal cloths. Well...I guess Reed figured something out.

Great effects.... it will probably be though:

SM3 vs. Pirates vs. Transformers

With TF for the win. SM3 has a chance, and no way it will be POTC3, imo. But strongest bet is Transformers.

The clip on the 'Tonight Show' even blew everything I've seen this summer effects wise look like child's play.

Well, those unstable molecules clothing he was developing in the first movie may be ready to make street clothes :p (or fire proof lingerie???)

By the way, haven't seen yet the movie, but I think Transformers, Ghost Rider and Spidey3 have a better shot at the FX Oscar

Oh, I know Reed could figure out a way to make it work, like he said in the first movie, he'd been working on a formula for it. I just wished that they put that back in and showed us this in some minor detail. It would've been a lot easier for audiences to buy the scene.

I've seen that happen millions of times in the cartoons and comics... so I just look at it as "what happened in between." I mean- time did go by, you know.:cwink:

And it is part of their universe, always has been. If the film was the first to do that- maybe, since it's not... just something that happened in between.

What were Sue's FX like? Were they like the first film(blueish) or like the trailers for FF2 ie. clear/whitish?

I know what you mean, and I totally agree. It's one of those things that are always left out when the running time is as short as this movie's

Can people please stop titling threads with their opinion and stating it as if it's a validated factoid? Just stop it.

that would be great if it did get nominated for an fx award...but there are a lot of big budget effects filled fantasy films coming out this year...Like The Golden Compass...I don't think the academy will recognize FF2 unless it pulls in major boxoffice...we'll see.

PS...I'm all for it WETA has done wonders with this movie....but this is how the academy thinks.

Also...I think they (the filmmakers effects crew etc) wanted Mr. Fantastic to have a quirky feel.

There was never a scene about Reed changing the clothes, at least it wasn't in the novelization as far as my knowlegde goes.

It's just something that happens in between. It's obviously not the day or week after the first film.

Kind of like how we didn't need to see Peter applying for a job at the pizza place. He just worked there at the start of SM2.

In between.

Yeah, but if you see a guy working at a pizza place, you can theorize he applied for the job and get it, without any help. But if you see clothes that stretches, it's a little hard to come up with an explanation if you are not a fan.

Mr fantastic looked horrifcally bad, Galactus had the same level of effects as "Twister", well maybe a bit better.

Human torch looked fake, especially when he was chasing the silver "that's cool" not to mention the final doom fight and sue the torch.

Silver surfer was decent, although not impressive. As FX go, this film was nothing special.
