Don't cheat or you're gonna get caught!

pokemon_sun_moon_online.JPG

Gotta catch 'em all is not just the Pokemon tagline; it appears to be the mission statement that The Pokemon Company is using in regards to how they are handling cheaters. The Pokemon Company revealed that they have banned 7,651 people for having altered save data. You will know if you are banned if you receive the error code, 090-0212 when trying to connect online. The significance of altered save data is that it lets the user leverage modified Pokemon with perfect IV stats.

Perfect IV Pokemon are very challenging and time-consuming to achieve under normal means as it requires a significant amount of breeding and a certain degree of luck to pull off. It's no surprise that circumventing the system to get perfect Pokemon immediately has become such a widespread problem.
The Pokemon Company has said that they will not stop their pursuit of cheaters, and this isn't the first mega ban wave to hit the game. Back in January, 5,954 people were banned from Sun and Moon's Battle Spot without notice, and the same will befall any cheaters caught from here on.

$3.3 Billion Was Generated By The Pokémon Company During 2016. April 14, 2017 . 8:00am

Last year, the Pokémon Company was able to generate approximately $3.3 billion in revenue, a huge jump from the previous year’s $2.1 billion.

Last year, the Pokémon Company was able to generate approximately $3.3 billion in revenue, a huge jump from 2015’s $2.1 billion. This can easily be attributed to the release of Pokémon GO back in July of 2016, as well as the release of Pokémon Sun & Moon later in that same year, with the latter becoming the third best-selling Nintendo 3DS titles of all time.

A new report from License! Global elaborates a bit more on the company’s strong year. [Thanks, NeoGAF.]
“Pokémon enjoyed an incredibly strong year at retail in 2016, which marked the brand’s 20th anniversary. The milestone, which recognized the first introduction of Pokémon video games 20 years ago, catapulted the perennially popular brand into the global spotlight and kicked off with the first-ever Pokémon Super Bowl commercial. The company also introduced the mobile game “Pokémon Go,” which became a global phenomenon and was downloaded 650 million times. Pokémon followed this success with “Pokémon Sun” and “Pokémon Moon” for the Nintendo 3DS, which became the third best-selling Nintendo 3DS titles of all time, adding to the 280 million Pokémon video games already sold.”

Pokemon Go’s first Knight Foundation event is this weekend in North Carolina

May 5, 2017 One comment
Pokemon Go really wants to get you outside and moving. That’s the gist of its new partnership with the Knight Foundation, through which Niantic hope to
“advance civic engagement in local communities around the United States through augmented reality experiences. This partnership will foster discovery, bring communities together and promote engagement within public spaces by leveraging Niantic experiences and technologies including Ingress and Pokémon GO at select community events supported by The Knight Foundation.”
The first event is actually this Sunday in Charlotte, North Carolina, in cooperation with the city government. Anyone down there and thinking of giving it a looksee?

Via download code.

GameStop is known for giving away Pokemon codes, as they helped giveaway several hard-to-find legendaries last year in celebration of Pokemon's 20th anniversary. This time, the giveaway is a bit more subdued, but no less rare, as starting on May 15th, trainers can head over to Gamestop to grab a download code for an exclusive Lycanroc Midnight Form.
What makes this Lycanroc different from others is its Hidden Ability, No Guard, which allows every attack in a battle to land for both trainers. This is important because it takes away the all-important Protect move, which can stop any move on a dime. This Lycanroc also comes holding a Life Orb, which enhances attack power at the cost of a little bit of health, so you can expect battles with this Lycanroc to finish quickly one way or the other.
Here's the Lycanroc's moveset:

 • Stone Edge
 • Fire Fang
 • Sucker Punch
 • Swords Dance
To redeem the download code, head over to the Mystery Gift tab in the main menu and select "Receive Gift via Code." Enter the code, and voila, you'll have a high octane offensive Lycanroc instantly. The giveaway runs from May 15th to June 5th, so you've got a little bit of time to take advantage of it.

University researchers harness Pokemon Go for education

May 12, 2017 One comment

Researchers continue to find new ways to make Pokemon Go dance for science. In a new paper, Iowa State University’s Emily Howell suggests that secondary ed students benefit from replacing traditional classroom tools with more “authentic” tools and situations and communication outlets.

“Anytime teachers can find something that students are already doing, and comes in multimodal form, they can harness that interest and teach students about the tool’s potential,” she explains.

It’s not the first time researchers have used PoGo to serve the educational needs of students; last year, an Arizona State University professor designed a free multi-age-bracket lesson plan that uses the game as a tool to teach cartography, “how to use geospatial technologies and communicate geographic information,” and vocabulary skills for ESL students.

With the announcements of Metroid and console Pokémon I feel like Nintendo really wanted to let fans know they're listening. Every person I've ever talked to who has ditched Nintendo has said that they'd have to go back for a console Pokémon so here's hoping this game doesn't disappoint.

Aren't the original games RPGs? Would you classify them as such or do they have to have different classes to count?

If so, maybe you actually play as Pokemon this time!

I think getting to play as the Pokémon during battles (like Pokken) could be very cool. Then once you win you go back to being the trainer.

Just let it go and wait for whatever they are developing

During Nintendo E3 2017 Spotlight presentation, it was announced that a 'core Pokemon RPG' would be releasing on the Nintendo Switch, without any further details.
Before Nintendo kicked off their Pokemon Direct last week, hype was at an all-time high. It was though that the rumored Pokemon Stars game, which is suggested to be a mix of Pokemon Moon and Pokemon Sun for the Nintendo Switch, would be announced.
Unfortunately, the game was not announced, however, Nintendo did accidentally list the new 3DS version of Pokemon Moon and Pokemon Sun, titled Pokemon Ultra Sun and Pokemon Ultra Moon, for the Nintendo Switch - which brought back hopes of a Nintendo Switch port of the game.
Now, Amazon UK has listed the rumored game for the Nintendo Switch and it's set to release in 2030. Obviously, the release date is a placeholder date and the entire listing could simply be an Amazon employee unwilling to acknowledge that Nintendo might actually have absolutely no plans to release the rumored game... but hope, is hope.

Pokémon Sun & Moon Details Marshadow. June 16, 2017 . 10:30am

More details about Pokémon Sun and Moon’s Marshadow, including details on its Spectral Thief move and Soul Stealing 7-Star Strike Z-Move, have been revealed.

13 comments Read >

Back in April, Marshadow, a new legendary Pokémon for Pokémon Sun and Moon was revealed. While we do not have a North American or European distribution date for the character yet, we do know all about its abilities and special moves, thanks to an update at the official website.

Marshadow
Category:
Gloomdweller Pokémon

Type:
Fighting/Ghost

Height:
2’04"

Weight:
48.9 lbs.

Ability:
Technician
Technician makes a move who’s power is 60 or less 50% more powerful.

Known as the Gloomdweller Pokémon, the Mythical Pokémon Marshadow conceals itself in the shadows. It never appears before humans, so its very existence is the stuff of myth. Marshadow sinks into the shadows of others, and is able to copy their movements and power.
Marshadow is a very cautious Pokémon. It sinks into shadows and observes what is going on around it in such a way that no one else will notice it. This may be the reason why is so rarely seen.
Among the numerous Pokémon discovered to date, Marshadow is remarkably the first to combine Fighting type and Ghost type. Even regarding its types, Marshadow is an extremely rare Pokémon. Fighting-type Pokémon are usually ill-suited in battle against Psychic-type Pokémon, but now you’ll be able to take advantage of Marshadow’s Ghost type to battle effectively!

Apparently, Marshadow behaves in special ways when it comes to using moves. When it uses moves, particularly signature moves like Spectral Thief, it will turn green. Spectral Thief steals an opponent’s stat boosts, then attacks. The Marshadium Z Z-Crystal turns Spectral Thief into the Soul Stealing 7-Star Strike Z-Move. In this move, Marshadow starts out in the trainer’s shadow, then leaps out to pummel enemies.

Pokémon Sun and Moon are available for the Nintendo 3DS. Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon will come to the Nintendo 3DS on November 17, 2017.

During the Nintendo Spotlight presentation for E3 2017, it was revealed that Nintendo was working on a Pokemon RPG and bringing back Metroid with Metroid Prime 4, both for the Nintendo Switch. Neither game came with many details, but luckily, post-event interviews have shed some light on the upcoming projects.

Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime confirmed to Bloomberg that the upcoming Pokemon game for Nintendo Switch will be a "traditional find, battle, train type experience." This suggests that we will indeed be seeing a game modeled after the handheld games we have come to love!
As for Metroid Prime 4, the game will be "a first-person adventure."

We will likely be waiting a long while before we see more information detailing these games, but that's OK. Our excitement will be steadfast!

1497884959PokemonGoLiveRaidGyms.jpg

Gyms have been a source of frustration for some and opportunity for others in Pokemon Go. Not only does it depend on how strong your roster has become, and just how many members of your Team are in your area.
Niantic Labs has finally announced a new big update, and it’s targeting the Gyms. In a new announcement via the official Pokemon Go website, the developer confirmed that the Gym will have a revamped gameplay experience.
The Gym will now have an expanded realm, so that Prestige and training aren’t the only things operating there. There will be six permanent slots that can be filled in each Gym, done by controlling the team’s ‘mons. For those who have been frustrated facing off against so many Dragonites and Blisseys can now rejoice—each slot should have a unique Pokemon.
Another interesting addition to the Gym feature is the Motivation System. This seems to be a feature to keep overpowered ‘mons from staying too long, but at the same time, keep Trainers engaged with the ‘mons they leave in each Gym. For instance, a Pokemon assigned to a Gym will lose motivation over time, thus having its CP decreased for easier defeat. One way to keep your ‘mon motivated is to feed it Berries. If you don’t, your ‘mon will lose motivation completely and return to you after its final defeat.
There will also be Gym Badges earned by interacting with many Gyms. Level up on Badges by engaging and battle so you can earn berries to feed your defending ‘mons. Higher level Gym Badges will also get a chance to have increased rewards and bonus items.
Pokemon Go players can also participate in Raids, which is basically cooperative gameplay. It’s the game’s version of multiplayer, as you will need to cooperate with fellow Trainers to defeat the Raid Boss. Basically, a Raid Battle will make all ‘mons return to their Trainers, before a large Egg appears in the Gym with a countdown. When it reaches zero, that’s when the Raid Boss will appear.
Battling in the Raid Battle will require a Raid Pass, which can be attained per day by visiting the Gym. This will allow you and up to 20 other Trainers to try and defeat the Raid Boss. The battle lasts give minutes and if you are successful, you may get a shot at catching a powerful Pokemon.
So far, the new changes in Pokemon Go are expected sometime in the next few weeks. Niantic Labs has already been disabling Gyms to start the update, and when they’re brought up, that signals the update rollout to all gyms. As usual with new features, the developer will start the new feature as beta, but will slowly enable more players into the new battles.

News that Niantic would be shutting down gyms in Pokemon Go to start working on the big overhaul on the augmented reality videogame’s gym system has been going around for a while, and now the company just officially announced that it would be closing the gyms later today. While it has not been included in the official press release, a number of websites are reporting that Niantic will also be introducing Legendary Pokemon in Pokemon Go through the new gym system.
Reports by multiple sites including Massively Overpowered say that they were able to speak to Niantic officials during this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo and were able to take a firsthand look at the game’s raid system. According to these sites, Pokemon Go players can get a special code giving them access to a Legendary Pokemon later in the future by actively using the new gym gameplay.
Although this does not specify when exactly in the future Niantic is planning to release these Legendary Pokemon, it does indicate that the developer is really working on bringing Legendaries to Pokemon Go. The developer’s idea of gifting gamers with codes to the Legendaries after actively using the new gym system is also a pretty great way to get more players to use the new system, and to get back into the game. The only question now is whether these codes will lead to a special Legendary Pokemon raide event, or a different encounter for Pokemon Go gamers.
