I like the new battle system, but I can see it overwhelming some newbies. And yes the main complaint of the game is the lifeless Lumiose. You can't even enter most of the buildings. They're just boxes to fill the space.I like the game, though there's a lot of problems. Gameplay is great but the city is so bland and boring. All the NPCs are just standing around. There's only 1 NPC that is moving and it's a jogger lol.
But yeah we need to return back to Johto asap.
That was the complaint for Arceus and Scarlet & Violet. Big and Empty. You'd think they'd learn to add some destinations or lore to the whole thing to make it more engaging.I like the new battle system, but I can see it overwhelming some newbies. You'd think they'd learn their lesson, but nope. Pokémon fans will still buy the game. I would rather have BOTW/TOTK open world with actual inhabitants and buildings to explore. I miss going into houses and talking to random NPCs.That was the complaint for Arceus and Scarlet & Violet. Big and Empty. For what it's worth, I do like the game. The gameplay and story/side missions are pretty entertaining, even moreso than Arceus IMO. It's just missing that exploration that made Arceus great. If the city had more detail and more to do, I'd probably rank it higher. My dream would be open world mechanics from S&V, battling, catching, and riding from Arceus (Though not gliding on the flying type. I wanna actually ride a flying type and you know, fly.), and an enhanced story telling with actual locations where you discover history and clues like Sword/Shield but better alongside enhanced events and history, and some NPCs with info.
Arceus came the closest, and my be my favorite. They had temples and everything there, but it still felt short or unfinished.
Sad to hear Z-A feels hollow. We got the switch 2 bundle put away for xmas so I can't play it for a while. It is a kids game though so . . . .

HGSS are the goat. And I have a soft spot for the Sun/Moon games. They're not my favorite and they were sort of the start of Nintendo having hour long tutorials and handholding. But I really dug the Hawaii aesthetic of the Alola region, trying to get away from the 8 gym formula and the introduction of the regional forms. I feel like there was a lot of potential with that gen that didn't get fully realized.I got a 3DS quite recently (found an unopened one) and been playing some of the DS/3DS era, which I like a lot more than the current era. Started with SoulSilver as HGSS are my favorites, good stuff. I found a video game store that sold a lot of used games and I asked to buy a used copy of Moon (in a steelbook case) and when I went to the register to pay for it the guy also had some brand new copies of some games so I also picked up X. I really regret not getting a few more (as this was a trip abroad) because the guy also had mint copies of Alpha Sapphire, Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon for example.
Started playing X and enjoying it so far. Never really played X/Y or Sun/Moon so this is fresh. Also want to play BW2 at some point.
