Craig doesn't even look remotely like the guy at the press conference the tabloids mocked.

I much prefer his current look than the one at the press conference(which was for the film Invasion), it was too long, schoolboy-ish and reminded me too much of Brosnan's look in Goldeneye.

I also think he looks MUCH more Bond-ian with the shorter hair.

I like the teaser butI have no idea what M and Bond talking about and I don't like Craig in the role. BLONDLE HAIR BLUE EYES NO NO NO!
Oh come on man, That's like saying Batman Begins sucked because they kept the rubber suit.

I've actually seen someone say that on another board.

Then you should karate chop them in the face if you ever see them on the street.

It looks good, but the trailer itself seems like every other Bond trailer for every other Bond movie. I see nothing remotely new, at least not as innovatively unique as the first Batman Begins trailer.

The version of the gunbarrel wasn't new or different to you? Or the black and white?

I said "the trailer itself". Yes, those aspects are actually new and different but the way the trailer was cut is no different then any other trailer for any other previous Bond movie.

There was nothing unique about the BB teaser or trailer,it was just the usual format with a bit of dialogue and some action:confused:

The first Batman Begins teaser was unique because it had NO action nor did it have any footage of Batman -- it was just voiceover and build-up. With the teaser for Casino Royale, we have the usual dialogue over loosely cut scenes that for a regular audience member mean nothing and then the arbitrary smash cut to disjointed action scenes with (yet again) another new version of the James Bond theme.

Now, the footage itself looks good. I'm just complaining about the execution of the trailer and how the footage was assembled.

The only reason the BB teaser had no action was b/c they hadn't edited any together at that point
That wasn't unique or cool it was just neccessity
This teaser is cut like the full BB teaser that was shown later in the year

That french teaser is almost shockingly good. Could the film live up to it?

i really like the black & white stuff...very noirish, and cool looking. The trailer was pretty cool, and the gun barrel shot was pretty badass.

my only gripe: Daniel Craig at the end of the trailer....he looked really goofy.

and is it my download only, or does it cut off at the end when it closes up on Craig's face and it looks like he's gonna say "Bond. James Bond."?

False. The teaser was released in July, after nearly five months of filming. They had already filmed the scenes in Iceland, including the sword fight between Bruce & Ducard, the monestary explosion and numerous other things during shooting at Shepperton Studios.

That wasn't unique or cool it was just neccessity

No it wasn't. Even David Goyer said the teaser was specifically cut that way, because Nolan wanted to really give it a different look and feel.

Sure. And that teaser was great for another teaser, to further excite audiences and fans. But this Casino Royale teaser would've been better if it was the second to a much more laid back, original teaser.

That's pretty awesome. I can't wait to see it in English.

I said edited not shot, they had shot some footage but it takes a long time to get the complex and minute details of an action sequence edited correctly

I don't care what Goyer said, the 30 second thing was basically a "this is Bruce Wayne's story" spot to let ppl know the direction,Bond didn't need that because everyone knows the direction.

That's your opinion but i disagree, they needed something to catch the eye and that's what this did,it showcased a darker meaner Bond and some new stylistic touches

Editing on the film didn't begin until shooting had wrapped, so whatever you are hearing, it's false. If Nolan and his team were able to edit a teaser, then they would've managed to slice some action scenes in there. I guess by that assumption the producers weren't able to get the action scenes edited for the Casino Royale teaser?

I don't care what Goyer said, the 30 second thing was basically a "this is Bruce Wayne's story" spot to let ppl know the direction,Bond didn't need that because everyone knows the direction.

You should care, as Goyer was the writer on the film. That's basically saying whatever Paul Haggis said regarding Royale, we should just throw out the window...because he's not important, right?

And actually, the trailer (which ran more than 30 seconds, more like over a minute) was edited that way to show that this Batman film would be a psychological story with character development instead of the flashy action blockbusters that were the previous installments. And if you're saying people will automatically realize that Casino Royale is a complete restart, then the trailer didn't effectively get that across. It was just another Bond teaser, but with a new Bond. I didn't get anything new out of it, and I bet neither will audiences.

What new stylistic touches? Besides the black & white scenes, I saw nothing stylish. Just regularly cut action scenes. And Bond's been dark and mean. Pierce Brosnan wasn't the campy version of James Bond. He was dark and mean, especially during his fight scenes. I see Craig's style as nothing really that different.

Still, the footage looked good. I am eagerly anticipating this movie, but the teaser just didn't do anything for me.

I didn't say i heard anything i said editing action together coherently takes time and clearly Nolan didn't bother to do so for the first teaser as he may well have felt he needed more time to do so given that he had never done action before and perhaps wanted the scenes to look polished, not a problem Martin Campbell has

why should i care, directors and writers forever try to make out they are doing something unique when they arent
the simplistic showcase was that the last movie was gaudy tat and this was a restart so they showed that Bruce Waynes Journey to becoming batman was the focus of the film

In this teaser we havent heard the dailogue but the french posters translated and in the scene's with M and Bond it clearly displays this is Bonds first assignment as a 00

Nothing in any if the Brosnan Bonds had the stripped down Raw look of Craig taking guys out cold bloodedly in this and as for what you got out of it,fine,i just don't agree

JAMES BOND? HELL YEAH!!!!

Seriously, that rocked. Any doubts over this film instantly faded away right there

Craig looks perfect.

The opening sequence in the building in black and white? Looks great. Im glad the rumors were true. I hope that means the rumors of the 'Gunbarrel' being at the end are correct as well.

The action looks great  Bond kicking ass like he should :D

I just realised, the trailer also confirms Bond does wear a tux in the movie unlike previously reported.

Nice Teaser

But why is half of it in Black & White ? Are they Flash Backs or something

I think that this....as a movie, looks better than the last three easy.

The begining of the film(pre-titles sequence) will be in black and white until Bond shoots at the screen and the blood covers it(as seen in the trailer).

The screen turns to color after his first few kills in the opening sequence.

It looks good. But, I think casino royale will be equivalent to burton's batman: yeah its good, but I just don't buy the lead actor in the title character role.
