And the award for most unlikely trio of actors to star in an epic sword and sandals movie goes to...

Huh. That was...interesting. And that last line really threw me for a loop.

Seeing John Cusack in this type of movie is weird. Not that I think that he's a bad actor or anything, he's not. He just doesn't immediately scream "period piece" or "sword and sandals."

Wow, that looks mostly bad. There are some good shots, but then there are shots that look cheesey.

I know the Chinese are trying to go big budget with their epics, but something like this requires some artistry. Also, Brody and Cusack look goofy: The two actors working today with the weirdest twists and turns in their careers.

Well it's not like they CAN'T do that. Red Cliffs was a big-budget epic, and it was really good. Then again, that one was directed by John Woo, so maybe that had something to do with it's success.

Goddamn! The two actors who I always try to defend as great, but not given enough good material to work with. This will be ****, but we will probably get a How Did This Get Made Podcast out of it. Brody, where did you go wrong? I blame Peter Jackson.

I...actually think I might see it. It could be dreadful or maybe, just maybe, it could be quite interesting

ithink Brody because of his nose can work in a movie like this. but Cusack? what the .......

This is like a new type of movie where random-ass actors are thrown into period pieces, and I'm like, "...What?" Season of the Witch and In the Name of the King come to mind.

That was Uwe Boll. It does not count.

...in fact, that doesn't even exist. What the hell is that anyway?

John Cusack looks like he's cosplaying. He looks way too modern to be in a movie like this. At least Brody has a look that suits him - the beard and the long hair helps.

You would think going over to the Asian market would be good for Brody and Cusack

But it just end up looking bad and more straight to dvd quality

What's up with Jackie Chan's helmet? It looks like a cross between a hardhat and a deerstalker (Sherlock Holmes) cap.

Anyway, this looks like crap. Adrian's career continues to circle the drain. I'm not sure where he went wrong, but those Gillette "Masters of Style" commercials probably didn't help. God, he looked like such a *****e in those things.

I was reading the comments about Cusack's career as of late on Badass Digest and I agree with their consensus that Cusuck is stuck in a netherworld in his career right now.

I think most actors struggles as they approach their 50s/60's on what kind of roles are suitable for them. Cusack can't go back to his glory days of the 90's, with High Fidelity or Grosse Pointe Blank. Then he's stuck playing the bad ass or the stone cold killer, which he seems inappropriate. He shouldn't do period movies because he's too modern...Now he's just doing anything to get a role.

Then once in a while, he'll play something that suits him, playing a dad in 2012 (it's a paycheck) or Maps to the Stars. Or, if all else, he would have to go to more idiosyncratic roles, like in 'Being John Malkovich'.

But Cusack has a very specific aura about him. He's relatable but he's no Tom Hanks. He's kinda cool but he's no (Insert actor)... and if is miscast in something, it sticks out like a sore thumb. Like in this movie....DRAGON BLADE!

It made the news here for there is a former French singer now actress in it who goes by the name of Lorie ( pretty ).

Hollywood is using this movie to prepare us for the ineluctable Jackie Chan-Nicolas Cage collaboration.

This is one weird looking flick. Cusack sticks out like a sore thumb.

So Brody and Cusack play Roman Generals who end up somehow in Ancient China?

That is inaccurate.

Nicolas Cage already did his ancient China movie this year.

Outcast with Hayden Christensen.

Watching that trailer, it actually seemed weird that Nicolas Cage was NOT in it, lol.

Oh dear.

The world's greatest overactor paired with the world's greatest underactor. The two of them appearing in the same movie might just shatter the fabric of reality itself and create a new multiverse.
