James Badge Dale to take on The Empty Man

'Game of Thrones' Actor Robert Aramayo Joins Fox's Supernatural Thriller 'Empty Man' (Exclusive)
Robert Aramayo, best known for playing young Ned Stark on the most recent season of Game of Thrones, has joined the cast of Fox’s supernatural thriller The Empty Man.

James Badge Dale (13 Hours) is starring in the movie, which is set to begin shooting in Cape Town, South Africa, in September.

David Britten Prior is directing from a script he wrote adapting a Boom! Studios comic. Boom!'s Ross Richie and Stephen Christy are producing.

The story centers on an ex-cop (Dale), plagued by the violent death of his wife and son, who battles to find a missing girl but soon discovers a sinister presence around him.

Aramayo’s character is being kept under wraps. The comic was written by Cullen Bunn and illustrated by Vanesa R. Del Rey. Boom!'s Adam Yoelin is co-producing.

Aramayo is a relative newcomer who made his debut on HBO’s hit fantasy playing a character first originated by Sean Bean. He makes his feature debut in Nocturnal Animals, the upcoming drama from Tom Ford that boasts an all-star cast ranging from Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal to Laura Linney and Michael Shannon.

Aramayo is also starring in Discovery’s new scripted mini-series Harley and the Davidsons, which premieres September 5 with Game of Thrones co-star Michiel Huisman. The actor is repped by Paradigm, Myrna Jacoby of MJ Management and Georgina Monkland of the U.K.'s 42.

I never read the comic series. The movie is long and dragged a bit.

It felt like Candyman, the Wickerman and Jacob's Ladder all mashed into one movie.

My favorite moment in the movie is when James Badge Dale's character says nope and runs away when he encounters a freaky scene.

Not sure how many people are in the mood for a movie about a virus.

I thought this was pretty terrific. It confidently hops genres and the direction is on point. This guy knows how to cut and how to move a camera to pointed effect. James Badge Dale crushes it too. Yay more actors over 40 playing the lead in horror movies and giving real performances.

I can't say it all wraps up as cleanly as I would like, but it's so creepy throughout. The 20 minute prologue is an all-timer. It could function perfectly as a moody, ambiguous short film.

I need to see this... JBD is so underrated.

Posting this because I wish more people would watch this! This is the best film I've see this year along with Dune. David Prior is the next great filmmaker if he's allowed to make more movies. This is a first class horror mystery. I was blown away by the directing. Prior deserves to be held in the esteem of Ari Astor and Robert Eggers. I'd take this over their movies personally, as it's more up my alley. But I think Prior has the potential to be up there with Villenueve and Nolan and Fincher.

This film gets under your skin in a way I haven't seen in a long time. It's damned scary.

Been on my MAX watchlist for a while now. Really need to get on that, but there's a bunch leaving this month I need to get done first.
