James Bond 24 - Part 1

Even in Dr.No and FRWL?

Yep, but it was were less extensive in those films if I recall correctly. Connery wasn't bald bald, he was just thinning and patchy on top. It was essentially an elaborate combover with the aid of a strategically placed hairpiece like what Bale's character does at the beginning of American Hustle, but since Connery had more of his own hair to work with, it was more effective.

Yeah, it didn't look like a wig. And damn, it's HARD to find any photos of young Connery without the toupee.

Thought it was for Goldfinger and onwards were Connery wore a hairpiece? As far as I know, Dr.No was all au naturel - look at his hair stick up after h kills the tarantula. As was FRWL.

How much should the future Bond films be "out of the box" thinking?
We've already went sci fi with laser weapons in space (MR) and even had voodoo magic once (LALD). Does it mean that fantasy elements can also happen in an upcoming Bond?

Bond spent far too much time outside of Olga Kurylenko's box in Quantum of Solace. They need to get Bond back in the box for future movies!

I can't imagine Craig's Bond going into space or dealing with voodoo mystical type stuff. A different Bond in the future might be able to return to that type of Bond films.

I thing the mass conspiracy, surveillance society, morally grey world view, techno cloak and dagger stuff is the type of ground Craig's Bond should continue exploring.

Like M said in Skyfall enemies are no longer nations, all it takes is a few of guys to come up with a terrorist plot that can cause mass destruction like the Boston bombers, 7/7, Madrid bombers, ect.

We are also living in a time similar to the 70's in which many people don't trust their governments and government's don't trust their people.

chamber-music: Yeah, I can't see Craig going the fantastical route either. It has to be done with his future replacement in the role.
It doesn't have to be a lighter James Bond, it can still be serious. Just not grounded in reality.

But how to include "fantasy" in the series? It won't work with wizards, elves, dwarves or anything of that kind.
I have an idea though. An excentric business leader can use wands as either some kind of communication devices... or as high tech weapons that can shoot laser beams. It won't be actual fantasy though, but the props can be the same.
What about it?

Do you think we can get Christina Hendricks as a Bond lady? It just seems like it should happen.

That would be great. I'd also like to see Antje Traue as a Bond girl. I wasn't a big fan of Man of Steel, but she has a certain something.

I could be wrong, but from what I recall from hanging around some Bond forums, Goldfinger on, Connery wore a full toupee, but he still used a partial hairpiece to cover some thinning on the top and back in DN and FRWL. In the first two films, he primarily relied upon a good combover to mask the hair loss.

I think the Visa Bond commercial she did with Pierce Brosnan is as close as we are going to get to seeing her in a Bond film. I don't think we will see a curvy Bond woman any time soon :csad:

The Bond casting people seem to be all about the sexy European women for the past few Bond films.

American Bond girls have a track record of being disastrous, with Carey Lowell being an exception.

Yeah, but surely they needn't be. I can't see why American women should be...Jinxed.

:funny:

John Travolta has voiced his interest in playing a Bond villain.

Travolta would ham it up, and not in a good way. I swear I just the worst performance from him in The Killing Season. He looked terrible with that goofy Lincoln beard, and sounded terrible with that accent. His into was laugh out funny too because he looks so misplaced.

Absolutely no to Travolta. He definitely lost whatever acting ability he once had a decade ago.

An emphatic hell no to Travolta as a Bond villain (or any part of the Bond world, for that matter0. It would be ABSOLUTELY terrible.

I think he's gotten better with these new villainous roles. I wouldn't object to him being one of the villains in Bond 25 or 26.

Definitely don't want Travolta anywhere near a Bond movie.

I wouldn't Travolta playing a Bond villain. If he gives another villain performance like he did in Face/Off or Punisher, then it could be really fun. It's not like we haven't had over the top villain performances in Bond films before, including the most recent one.
