James Bond In Skyfall - Part 8

Jill St John seems like she wears too much make up and would kind of look the same whether she's 20, 40 or 60. I think she was the start of the American Bond Girls, which I've never really liked. I always preferred the European talent.

She did seem like a bimbo, and her way of speaking didn't really help her either. There was that scene, for example, when she's at that gas station trying to fill up the tank or whatever it was. Do people really talk like that? It's almost an act.

Well, that part actually was an act. But compare her in her introductory scene and her later conversation with Bond in his suite at the Whyte House to her stumbling around Blofeld's Oil Platform. It is almost like she is two completely different characters.

Agreed about Dalton. It's always between Dalton and Connery when someone asks me who I liked as Bond more. For me, it's always changing.

Ha "Bordem" I certainly hope that Javier's character isn't a bore.

I put Diamonds above The Man with the Golden Gun, Moonraker, and A View to a Kill, but it is still one of the worst.

I think it's the second worst only behind Man With The Golden Gun.

Diamonds did have a hot Bond Girl, though.

Here's a crazy thought, but what would people think of a James Bond period piece?

Not with Craig of course, but if in a few years they made a movie set in the 50's or 60's in the Cold War era?

Not has a film but I would love the BBC to make straight up adaptations of all the novels set in the time period of the books. That would be great to see....

*rant coming* Man With the Golden Gun will always be the worst to me because it pulls off the worst crime of all the Bond movies; being boring. At least with every other Bond movie, I have to admit that I was at least entertained by all the other Bond movies. The action is boring, the acting is boring (everyone except for Christopher Lee looked like they didn't even want to do this movie), and Scaramanga's villain plot was boring and incredibly lame. Not to mention, I hate that f**king midget butler, and I hate JW Pepper even more. After watching Live and Let Die (which I actually do like), I was actually saying that The Man With The Golden Gun movie couldn't get any worse and at least it didn't have JW Pepper in it, then he comes on and I was ready to throw stop the dvd and throw it out a window.

The Man With The Golden Gun could have been an interesting return for Bond in the spy thriller genre, but it squabbles it's opportunities hugely by forcing in Bond formula with combined with a dull story, terrible comedy, a completely forgettable Bond girl, and one of the stupidest ideas for a henchmen.

Discussing all the Bond films really makes me want to get the Blu-Ray set seeing as I haven't had a good marathon run of them in years.

Let's see... 2047, well, things would probably be a little more futuristic.

Sleeker cars, taller buildings. Probably no flying cars. But having a car that turns invisible likely wouldn't make anyone bat an eye. I can see cloning being an issue. Cybernetics would probably be a thing.

Geopolitics are harder to accurately predict, but China and India would probably be much bigger "players" on the global scene.

Assuming a Third World War won't have broken out by then.

Yesterday someone on my Twitter list posted that she gave up on 007 after Daniel Craig was cast, but she was finally going to see Casino Royale, to give him a chance.
She absolutely loved the movie, and said she'll go see Skyfall in November. Pretty cool, huh?

Quantum is a fine film that could have been better perhaps some of the pre-production issues not existed, but at the time I thought it was a step down but still enjoyable. t:

In a way I do sort of miss the ridiculousness of some Bond films like Moonraker, and Goldeneye.

Pens that blow up... Villains with farfetched plans...

Wouldn't have Austin Powers without that.

Even though QOS is no where near as good as CR and has many flaws I still think Daniel Craig puts in a really good performance
