When I watched the Hong Kong scene, I was at total awe. Batman's break-in and his escape through the skyhook was a total SPY scene for me. :cwink:
When Batman jumps off the skyscraper, it was a homage to the opening scene of Goldeneye!:yay:

Also, when I watched that scene were he was holding Lau waiting for the windows to blow open, and the police staring at the Batman, was for me, a "James Bond" moment! :applaud:applaud:applaudIt was so coordinated, that I didn't believe this a Bat film. I thought I was watching a James Bond film on steroids, or some Mission Impossible movie. Nolan and his team were very creative in adding spy elements to TDK!!!:applaud

Somebody on youtube should post the Hong Kong scene with the James Bond theme as the background music (dark version, like License to Kill, not Roger Moore's)

Anyway, was there any other scene that you found to be a "James Bond" moment?

The Lamborghini catching up to Reese's car for me,

And without a doubt, Bats standing on the skyscraper was certainly Mission: Impossible-ish :hehe:

Joker's Shoe Knife - From Russia With Love

Operation Skyhook- Thunderball

"Perhaps you should read the instructions first"- Very "Q" thing to say.

Yeah, Lucius Fox acted too much like Batman's "Q" so to speak IMO. Nolan's a Bond fan so its no surprise that he had some homages. I loved seeing Rosa Klebb's shoe knife again. :woot:

Anybody else think that Nolan looks like he could be a Bond villain?

Hell, just look at any picture he's in. He's always got that squinty shifty-eyed look.

Well done. Robert Conrad, the original James West in the old tv show "Wild, wild west" also had a cool shoe knife. And the show was kind of a take on James Bond as a cowboy.

TDK is the first Batman film to incorporate spy-like moments.

Bruce Wayne is sexy than James Bond, but if I must...

QoS moments for me:

Greene beating on Bond with the crowbar (and then axe) reminded me of Joker's beatdown on the Batman :hehe: (villain going wild with a crowbar over hero in general)

Bond hanging/struggling upside down by the rope reminded me of Joker's final speech (just for a couple seconds haha)

Bond knocking out the SWAT officer outside the bar reminded me of Batman's pwnage of the SWAT officers

And what else? I dunno, Bond waiting on the bike to make his move reminded me of Batman waiting on his Batpod for Fox's coordinates.

And haha what the heck, Bond standing at the top of the eye listening to the dealings reminded me of Batman on top of the Sears tower listening to the police frequencies

Ah, I have barely watched a couple of Connery's Bond movies and that's it. I never knew about the similarities.

Hm. Not exactly matching up to any Bond precedent set before it, but the truck flip was definitely Bond-like to me.

Well, Joker with the shoe knife is clealy a homage to From Russia With Love. I loved that, it popped into my mind instantly when I saw that knife pop out.

We all know how much Nolan wants to direct a Bond film. Ohhhh, just thinking about makes me freak out.

Not really. BB already had Bats listening to Falcone's conversations with Flass, and then later to Crane's conversation with Rachel.

In MOTP, Batman follows and spies on Andrea Beaumont. Infiltrates Reese's (I think that was his name) house, looking for information to connect the dots on their past and The Phantasm.

I'm sure there are others...

IMO TDK was a much better "James Bond" movie than QoS was. I believe TDK should be everything a Bond movie aspires to be (even though I enjoyed parts of Qos and didn't think it was a terrible Bond movie.)

Fox is pretty much a rip off of Q, no doubt about it. I wouldn't mind if we never saw him again simply because of that over-similarity.

You can tell Nolan loved the Bond films. Fox = Q. In fact Dark Knight was more "Bond" than Quantum of Solace.

I love Lucius Fox. Plus it's frickin' Morgan Freeman man! Perfect casting by Nolan.

that's probably because alot of the bond crew regulars were working on the dark knight (hemming, corbould, etc.)

I actually like it that Batman's fight scenes have sort of a Bond style to them. I think applying it to Batman is an improvement over the standard super hero fight sequences he's had in the 90s movies, especially the ice skating fight.

I love that they make Batman "dispatch" his enemies rather than "beat them up" in combat, if anyone understands what I mean.

I noticed that but I meant from a character standpoint. I'm not familiar with the comics but is Lucius Fox anything other than a Wayne Enterprises executive? In Nolan's films he is Q to Bruce Wayne. There's nothing wrong with it since it works in the story. But it reflects a lot on the influence the Bond films have had on Nolan.

Batman has had many people make gadgets and cars for him over the years. Just because Nolan uses Fox, it doesnt mean that he is influenced by bond. I personally find nothing in common between the two franchises and you basing the similarity just on Fox making gadgets is kind of a stretch.

In the comics Batman used to have a huntchback to make gadgets and vehicles for him (around the Knightfall era) and in the animated series he hired a bankrupt genius mechanic to built him the batmobile.

I can understand Batman making his own gadgets, but building cars requires quite a big leap of faith. Fox is a fairly good solution, even though him alone rebuilding the Tumbler or building a Batwing is a stretch as well.

Uh....whatever, its a batman film, it doesnt have to be 100% realistic or there will be no fun left in it.

It's not a strecth. Fox specifically works on Bat Gadgets for Wayne. Before going to his mission in Hong Kong, Wayne visits Fox to get the latest goods. That doesn't sounds familiar?

And I'm pretty sure the filmmakers have said there is a Bond influence of some sorts in Nolan's films. I could be wrong, though. The point is, Fox as Q is a valid comparison.

Of course Fox resembles Q, but Batman doesnt resemble Bond.

But then again someone could start with the trivial details like
"they both wear suits"
"they both drive supercars"
"they both have male genitalia"
etc.

Thing is, aside from Fox/Q, i didnt get any Bond vibe in TDK.

Well, I'm only arguing for Fox as Q, not Bond as Batman.

And you don't know if Wayne has male genitalia. I think he's still a virgin anyway :o
