But its the exact same notes !!!! Its not simply familiar, its the same.

Did anyone else notice the "GI Joooeee!" bit at the end of the intro sequence? Yeah, they were singing "Dragon Soouulll!", but it was the exact same notes. At my school's animation club we were watching Kai and we couldn't stop joking about it, LOL!

Skip to the 1:20 mark, you'll hear it.

Hi,

I just bought the official book from Avatar, the "confidential report on planet Pandora". Good read and they are some pictures of Earth ( from the deleted scenes I think, we can see Jake in the street in one of them ).

Some facts :
- Pandora air is made of Nitrogen and Oxygen
- Na'vi breading is alike mammal
- The foating mountains flot because of Unobtainium ( no brainer )
- almost every creatures and plants use bioluminescence because none of them developped night vision

I recommande this book to every fans. I also bought Liza Fitzpatrick "Art" book which contains nice concept arts from the various artists involved.

Kane this is in no way the same.

yes it is, ive listened to many film scores and there is always gonna be two tracks that are similar to each other. Its not a big thing, whats gonna happen "ooo they ripped off this track"

seriously, why do you care if they do sound the same? are you gonna protest? lol

I saw this the day it came out. I saw it four times in the theatres and a few on dvd. It's still my all time favorite movie.

theres your answer.

Regardless of the fact that different instruments are used, it's the fact that the score is the same in the beginning. This stems from the sheet music. I could sing the damn thing with different tones and pitches, and it would still be a carbon copy ripoff. Instruments having nothing to do with it. There is a big difference in similar sounding scores and non-original stories as you say, and literally using the EXACT SAME sequence of notes, holds, rests, etc. If you cannot hear the exact same notes, then there is nothing more I can really say. Do I give a damn that it's being copied by something of no significance to me? No. Not at all. But the fact that your argument is that this situation (of obvious copying) is comparable to similar sounding scores and similarly plotted films is quite astounding. Does Avatar use the EXACT SAME lines as Dances With Wolves, just said by different actors?

That is an awesome poster dark_b, I wonder if the movie would have made even more money had the marketing been a bit better?

I highly doubt it...I think the lack of marketing and secrecy of avatar actually worked in its favor. People were curious to see what the fuss was about.

edit: awesome hi-res pics, dark_b  ...It makes me realize how great the cgi was in Avatar :wow:

One thing I never got about this scene, is that Quatrich picks Jake up by his pony-tail, then holds a knife to Jake's throat, and Jake just lets him, why doesnt he, you know, use them 2 big friggin arms attached to his body!

The only real mistake I spotted in the movie.

At that point wasn't Jake struggling to stay conscious from lack of air?

A bit earlier he was, but he held his breath to manouvre his Avatar again, he didnt look out of breath at all when Quaritch had the knife to his neck.

i am a huge Cameron fan and respect this guy for being a perfectionist.

BUT

but chaning the switches inside Trudy's Samson? a waste of millions for something that noone and i mean NOOOOOOOOOOOONE would ever notice or even complain about. i mean did anyone even mention the switches inside the Samson or other vehicles? come ooooooooon. :whatever:

yes Avatar made a lot of money. but a lot of other ditrectors are doing this. this is the reason why the budgets are so high. because they are spending money on every BS. :cmad:

^Cameron has always been a perfectionist, right down to the little details in all of his movies, its why he has a reputation for being hard to work with because he wont stop changing shots, etc until they are perfect in his minds eye.

Its one of the reasons his movies are so great IMO, because unlike a Ratner or McG, he makes sure everything is perfect before the movie is released.
