Boba Fett James Mangold to write/direct Boba Fett Movie

I think you can safely bet that [BLACKOUT]Darth Maul[/BLACKOUT] is going to show up....

Many years ago I suggested he direct a SW movie... but this is far from my favorite character to make a movie about.

How can we get Hugh Jackman in this?

Well I like Mangold. But I wish they'd move into a different territory than characters we don't already more

This was the project that Josh Trank - remember him - was working on before.

Oh, not until Disney milks as much nostalgia as they can from characters we've already seen. And that's probably a deep well, too.

I find myself annoyed with the continuing lack of diversity behind the camera. That being said, this is one I actually am looking forward to now.

The great thing is that Daniel Logan is the perfect age for a Young Boba or Jango whereas Temuera Morrison is perfect if they want to do an Older Fett escaping the Sarlacc.

Though if they go older people will call it Logan in Space...which wouldn't be a bad thing IMO....

In before we get J-23 ! :woot:

IMHO, Mangold can't do any worse on this than Josh Trank. Even if it fails, I badly want to see this.

Why is Vile being a jerk about this? She even said she was excited about this, but her initial point is a good one.

Anyways, a lot of potential Solo crossover here. Mangold fits perfectly. He has made arguably my favorite Western of the last 50 years. Just don't need Wolverine third act Mangold. I hope this is the 2020 movie and not Obi-Wan.

Should be interesting seeing what Mangold can do.

I'm... mixed on this. On one hand, Boba Fett isn't that interesting of a character, outside of his costume, and people are clamoring more for Lando and Leia spin-offs than the dude who got killed by a blind man and was sold to slavery as a child bride in the Clone Wars cartoon because he screwed up a job badly. On the other hand, Mangold could offer up a spaghetti western in space if treated right. Hell, he could have Fett earn his badass reputation rather than being implied to have one.

Or at the very least, make him like his Robot Chicken counterpart.

Mangold is shooting the Ford vs Ferrari this summer and I expect him to work on that until early next year. He also has The Force but I suppose that can be pushed back so 2020 seems doable.

It's strange given that they didn't worry too much about nostalgia with Luke! Hopefully we get both film like this and Kenobi and new films that expand the universe.

This is a most inspirational choice! I can see Mangold bringing that same type of layer he brought to Wolverine/Logan to Boba Fett. With Boba Fett, like with Solo, it's "western in space" and western is a genre Mangold has quite effectively tackled before. Couldn't have asked for a better choice.

On the Solo spoiler front:

I feel like there is a high possibility this is where we will see Maul and potentially Qi'ra next.

Hmm, I guess Episode II already did the “old man and his younger clone” story...
