I just saw that this movie was screened at TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival), and I guess it's actually really scary. I didn't see a thread on it, so I figured I'd make one.

James Wan and Leigh Whannell (SAW series) and the producers of the smash hit Paranormal Activity will premiere their new film Insidious this week at the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival and we have the first clip for you below.

Josh (Patrick Wilson) and Renai (Rose Byrne) have a happy family with their three young children. When tragedy strikes their young son, Josh and Renai begin to experience things that science cannot explain.

James Wan and Leigh Whannell, the co-creators of Saw, join forces with the producers of Paranormal Activity to take you on a mind-bending journey into the world of the unknown. INSIDIOUS is produced by Jason Blum, Steven Schneider, and Oren Peli and executive produced by Brian Kavanaugh-Jones.

I had the unfortunate pleasure of watching this clip at 5 AM, and trust me, it's pretty freaky but so damn good.

I saw it.

Let me tell you, this is James Wan and Leigh Whannell's masterpiece.
It's old-school horror, taking pointers right out of such films as The Changeling, The Exorcist, Poltergiest, and Black Christmas. It relies on atmosphere and tention; building the mystery and suspence and then kicking you in the chest while you're down.

Sony Pictures just bought the film for a wide release distribution, so when this baby comes out you guys HAVE to see it!

The picture that I saw for this movie looks scary.

The premise sounds cool, but the clip is average. I'll keep an eye on the movie however.

I can't wait to see this. Love their work with Saw, Dead Silence and Death Sentence.

This movie is amazing, itll be the next big thing. And how amazing is it that both the people from saw and paranormal activity teamed up for this one, wow, ive seen some footage of this film and i must say its amazing, its a classic horror movie with a modern look

Did you get to actually watch the whole movie? Cause I did, and it really is amazing.

Dang, no i actually didnt ive watched a few clips here and there though, my cousin was there and told me about it as well, it really is gonna be one amazing film, finally a epic horror film, i cant wait to see all of it!

Just came back from a midnight screening and man, am I creeped out. What an incredibly disturbing movie. I felt like I was watching a nightmare. I don't want to spoil anything, but suffice it to say that this movie makes a part of every person's daily life horrifying, kind of like Paranormal Activity did. It isn't necessarily the dark corners of your bedroom this movie will make you fear.... but saying anything more would give away too much.

This is an old fashioned horror movie: there's no gore but it's still incredibly frightening. There were several screams and jumps in my screening but they were all for the right reasons. However, if you're only into cheap jumps and fake blood in your horror movies... might wanna stay away.

And that was post number 666. How fitting.

this movie was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!
i havent seen a horror film this good (or terrifying!) in YEEEARS!!...

this is very classic raimi and peter jackson...from the awkward camera moves and random direction that keeps you on the edge because you know literally anything could happen (so expect some raimi kind of haunted house wackyness at times).. and the awesomely creepy music
this was poltergiest meets drag me to hell... with some peter jackson flavoring.

If you're a horror fan (or love good movies) this is a MUST see...
Insidious > paranormal activity

Definatly James Wans masterpiece.. was not expecting this. The reviews that said it had 'cheap scares' were on crack... these scares were well earned and perfectly thought out.

And besides its scaryness it had a great(original?) story and some good acting.

8.5-9 out of 10

Ditto. I saw this earlier and absolutely loved it. An incredibly frightening, creepy movie that made me jump several times and even managed to creep me out, something I practically never feel when I watch a movie. I've loved all of James Wan's previous movies and this didn't disappoint at all, loved every minute of it and can't wait to buy it.

Looks like two good movies opened up today

I hope this does well at the box office this weekend. James Wan's prior two films (Dead Silence and Death Sentence) both sadly underperformed at the box office, so hopefully this will be a commercial rebound for him.

Went to a matinee of this today, good amount of people in the theater we went to. It was really, really well done. Acting was excellent, it was very creepy and well-shot. It's drawn some comparisons to Poltergeist but I liked it better. The score was also great and pretty freaky. I think it's a movie that works best in the theater.

I loved this movie. So good. :awesome:

The budget for Insidious was $800,000. It made about $5 mil at the box office yesterday.

Sounds like even if it didn't gross a lot it easily made back it's budget. It'll probably make a few million more over the weekend.

As someone who hated Paranormal Activity, is this better than that? I sure hope so. It seems better.

I liked Insidous better but I'm not a huge fan of the mockumentary horror film.

It is best compared to Poltergeist, IMO.

Good Lord, this movie was bad. I flinched maybe 1 time, and it was when [blackout]the demon's face was behind the dad[/blackout]. Like somebody over at RT said, this movie was surprising, NOT scary.

Insidious>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Paranormal Activity
