Man, January is blowing up my wallet. I've let my spending get out of control very quickly so I need to reign it in before it gets too far. Marvel's killing me again with double shippings, minis, ongoings, and point ones. It's annoying.
My biggest hit, as always comes from the
X-Men Universe. If I weren't such a huge X-Men fan I could save bundles of money. Besides Wolverine & the X-Men, X-Men, Uncanny X-Men, Uncanny X-Force, New Mutants, and X-23... there's also two .1 issues in the X-Men world this month - plus Magneto: Not a Hero, Wolverine & the X-Men: Alpha & Omega, and Avengers: X-Sanction. I'd pass that last one up if I were just into Avengers but it's my X-Men side that's pulling me in. Add all of those together and that's a major part of my list.
I'm going to be paying attention though because once Regenesis gets going, if I lose interest in a book I'm going to start dropping things left and right. I'm tired of buying X-Men for the sake of buying. I've dropped Astonishing X-Men and X-Factor and I'm willing to go further than that. New Mutants & X-Men... I'm looking at you!
Oh but how awesome is it that Joseph is coming back in Magneto: Not a Good Guy?!
Avengers and
New Avengers look good as usual. The
Avengers Annual will likely not be worth the money but I liked the New Avengers Annual that told the first part to this story and I'll likely enjoy this one, too.
Now for my maybes....
Now I'm enjoying
Daredevil but the idea of having to pay an additional $4 for his story in a month... and that $4 coming from
Amazing Spider-Man... annoys the crap out of me. That one crossover has me seriously debating on dropping the book again. I just buy way too much and that'd save me $7 on the month. Chances are I'll get it because the series is just way too good to drop because of one crossover but I'm not liking it!
I've only bought
Black Panther for two issues but this war with Kingpin plot really has my interest. I plan on sticking with it through that arc but with how high my spending is this month it might be smarter for me to cut and run before the arc really even starts. I'll debate on it.
I've not bought
Fantastic Four since the first two issues of FF (and for years prior to that). I dropped it during a previous big dropping spree but this plot really has me interested. If this Galactus/Kree/Annihilus plot is a new starting point that doesn't require previous reading (like Hickman usually does) then I might consider it. I like all the cosmic angles but I don't feel like coming in mid-story... and if I'm not mistaken the first part of this is a $7 issue and I won't spend that kind of money on a book I'm not even sure I want to continue. We'll see.
I've dropped
Daken but I love the Runaways. I've been planning on continuing Daken only for their arc and then stopping. I've sold his previous issues and am cool with being done, but those darn Runaways keep me from stopping completely. I'll get the book for them most likely but with this budget I may be forced to pass on this. I don't know.
The last newer things of interest are
Battle Scars and
Secret Avengers 21.1. With how much my budget is blowing up I think I'll likely be passing on Battle Scars now. I was curious and liked that Quake was in it but I need to trim the buying and that's a mini I'm not needing. Plus I still hate the idea of picking up any Fear Itself aftermath. As for Secret Avengers... I love Remender. He does a good job on most that he works on and I like his potential line up for the team so I might consider at least getting this .1 issue for $3 to give it a fair chance. If the month weren't so price heavy it'd be a definate, but now I'll likely skim it first before deciding.
So yeah... the majority of my costs for January are coming from Marven, and specifically the X-Men. There's room to cut from Marvel but I'll likely also cut from my DC list. I'm not sure how yet but it'll happen. It has to.
