Panic Face King, a Japanese hidden-camera television programme, has faked a blood-soaked sniper attack to scare a contestant.

In a recent episode, the Japanese television game show had one contestant sitting in an office with three other men.

As the ominous theme music to 24 played over the top, viewers watched him sit talking to the three.

Suddenly the windows smash, the sound of gunfire echoes through the room, and blood spurts from the chests of the men around him.

As they collapse, he crawls in obvious terror to the door, scrabbling in fear against it when he finds it locked.

This trauma-inducing experience is billed as comedy, with a studio audience laughing merrily over the top.

US television has seen similar shows – notably Scare Tactics, which faked serial killer attacks, live burials and UFO abductions – but Panic Face King’s startlingly lifelike and brutal images are still shocking.

One blogger on Boing Boing is unimpressed. Mark Frauenfelder says: “The producers of this program ought to be fined and locked up, if you asked me.”

There's a video of it in that link. Could post it but.. you never know.

I think that certain cultures find things funny that others would not. I don't see why they would deserve to be "locked up" for it just because we wouldn't find it funny in our part of the world.

That's true. There's no reason that they should be fined or locked up just because they're doing dick practical jokes and laughing their asses off at it. Where I'm from we just called that college.

the west should just get off their high horse and shut the **** up about other cultures. why should the rest of the world mould themselves to your way of thinking regarding anything. **** you you sheep shagging ****holes

You seem a bit pissed off. But we agree essentially. It's quite ethnocentric to think that the prank is in some way wrong because WE think it is. I'm know there are things that we find funny that people from other cultural backgrounds would be horrified and repulsed by.

I have to admit i laughed when the guy shielded him with his body on the couch and was shot in the back. It's the absurdity I find funny. The guy could experience mental trauma though . It was elaborate but they might have gone too far.

The potential mental scarring is what makes it funny. :awesome: Say what you will about the asians, but they damn sure know how to treat their reality show contestants.

Panic Face King? You Japanese are crazy.

Have you seen the video? I mean... it's ****ed up anyway but that video is like 10 minutes long.

Aaaaaaaand they find this funny? Seriously, those guys are f***ed up.

Well, we westerners tend to find physical harm inflicted upon others to be funny, so I'm not sure we can really judge. They probably look at us and think the very same thing.

This is true, but the Japanese think that is funny too. Just go ahead and google "Japanese Gameshow".

The japanese can be......very......sick......

:whatever:

Physical harm inflicted on others is funny, provided it's non-lethal and presented in an entertaining manner.

See this is why we should've not dropped the bomb... all that radioactive **** has completely ****ed that island up forever.

Next time on Panic Face King, we tell a 10 year old boy that his family were killed, raped and tell him that Santa is fake.

Then why isn't scaring the **** out of somebody funny? I actually find that more hilarious than pummeling somebody's testicles. Maybe that puts me in a minority.
