Jared Leto IS The Joker - - - Part 12

That’s what I’m disputing. Can you pull reference images from any medium, across the ages prior to 2007, which indisputably resemble Heath? At least more than Leto? This isn’t about who’s better, I’m just posing the question of where people are getting the notion Leto looks too removed from the character when he’s following one who has arguably strayed the most in a very drastic way.

The first sketch of Bermejo's Joker design was posted in 2006 or 2007, prior to the first pics of Ledger's Joker. It's been said that Ledger's Joker design was at least partially inspired by this.

His "Joker" graphic novel (which is really great) was then published in late 2008.

yeah , alot of people have it backwards and think bermejo's joker was inspired by ledger , though.

Ultimately it comes down to how well written this Joker is and how integral he is to the story.

It doesn't slow down the hype when Ayer and Snyder are raving about Leto's Joker the way they are.

When Ayer says King of Planet Joker. My first thought is he's got the intensity of Ledger and the joy of Nicholson.

He doesn't have to be as good in those guys in that area. But I'd like to see a nice balance of both.

I think the tattoos will explain themselves once we see the movie and get to know the character.

It won't make a difference for me if they explain why he have them because they still look very stupid. So does jewellery and metal teeth. All look bad and ruin it.

I'm aware of it, and I think most fans would note it was never a canonical Joker, nor was he a consistent presence anywhere besides Bermejo's work. Dave McKean's Joker is completely unique and is featured in one of the most revered Batman stories of all time, but I'd be hard-pressed to say I could vouch for a live-action interpretation of it just because it appeared once.

I suppose you'll be happy with Batman v Superman then, what with the vandalized Robin costume and all.
I wonder if we will get ANY joker in BvS besides the robin costume? or just some names thrown around in dialogue?

Correct, his was not a canonical Joker, but you asked to see an image resembling Heath's Joker from any medium "across the ages" prior to 2007, and this is one of them (if not the only one). Since you asked for any medium (comics, film, TV, animated, etc), I assumed you weren't limiting it to canonical images, since no medium outside of the core comic book lineups are considered to be "canon".

Good to know where you stand!

I doubt it. We've already gotten two references in the trailers. It will be limited to that.

We won't. I doubt they'll even reference The Joker by name. Showing the tarnished Robin suit with his writing on it will be enough.

I guess it's down to how you define it, didn't want to delve into semantics here.

Was merely looking for more concrete examples than off-shoot stories, is all. I'm only curious because people seem to be incredibly passionate about the tats/grills, and it's surprising it's inciting more of a furor than the chelsea grin and make-up. The latter are bordering on blasphemy, but that's just one man's opinion. :o

Well, I certainly hope they ruin the movie for you.

So you don't think it will be talked about at all after the shot of Robins suit is shown, I mean I am guessing that Batman/Bruce Wayne finds it like that.

Not sure if we'll get this with Leto's Joker or not, but one thing that I've always found missing in previous cinematic incarnations of the Joker is this sort of flamboyant rock star image he seems to portray in the comics. I'm not sure if anyone else views the character this way, but I've always imagined him having sort of a theatrical presence like Prince of Freddie Mercury when I read his comics. I guess hearing Bohemian Rhapsody in the Suicide Squad trailer got me thinking (and hoping) that we might get something like this with Leto's Joker (and it doesn't hurt that he's a frontman for a rock band).

Again, this is just how I always perceived him in the comics; I might be alone in this. But thus far the previous versions of the Joker (while both brilliant) haven't really gone this route and I'm hoping this one does.

What's wrong with the Joker wearing Jewelry? He wears lipstick and everything is fine, he puts on a ring and everything is ruined.

I like Leto's and Ledger's Joker look, but Leto's is more comic accurate, by far. They both have taken liberties. However, Ledger's look altered fundamental details: the greasy, barely green hair, Chelsea smile, use of makeup vs. bleached skin, overall grungy look. Leto's Joker takes the classic look (the skin, hair, clothes, theatricality, etc.) and adds on top of it tattoos and jewelry. Again, I like both, but Leto's is arguably far less of a departure.

Well, I certainly hope they ruin the movie for you.

:funny: What a baby.

Joker wear red lips to look like a clown. He's not wearing one ring he is wearing lots of rings and necklaces and ear rings. He could give Mr T run for his money lol.

As someone who was here during the prime pre-TDK days, I can promise you that the "furor" over the tats/grills is absolutely NOTHING compared to the hubbub that surrounded the scars, greasepaint, and lack of perma-white in regard to Heath's Joker prior to the release of TDK

Most people (like myself) were completely won over by Heath's Joker as the proper TDK trailers kept trickling in, but there was still a vocal minority that were not 100% pleased or legitimately unhappy with aspects of his look -- similar to the current reactions to Leto's Joker look.

Two diamond studs, one gold bracelet, four gold rings, three on one hand with one on the other, and a chain. Seems to me that he's embracing his own lifestyle.

Yes, on nerdy online message boards. But the public seemed to really take to Ledger's look. But with this, it almost feels like the opposite: the message boards are defending Leto's look, while the public is still 50/50 on it.

He look stupid doing that lol. Joker not need to drip in jewellery for embracing his lifestyle. He's not a rapper lol. They still not look as bad as tattoos though. They the worst part.

This is coming from a guy who posts like he's either drunk or just discovered how to type.

English is not my first language troll.
