Jared Leto IS The Joker - Part 9

It's a really stupid idea, and it troubles me that I have seen it more than once.
Well, I've only seen it once; though again I took a hiatus from these boards for a couple of months.

Personally I don't really mind it because it just seems like BB: RotJ inspired and it can fit in regards to what we have been shown so far, and if WB chooses to go that route.

I wouldn't mind if Jason Todd is the Joker, so long as they never mention or allude to it in any way

What a mad twist that would be :hmm
Many would hate it. But it may be as an epic of a shock at discovering Darth Vader was Luke's old man...probably not, for obvious reasons.

Joker being Todd just doesn't make sense.

The #Joker hacking #Tattoos is as out there as him having specially tailored purple and green suits made over & over again. Just saying.

"His tattoos are too self referential?" Well, those suits the #Joker wears are also really referential.

I mean the #Joker puts some real thought into his appearance and fashion in the comics. #Tattoos are no different

Arrogant Alien ‏@SonofArrogance 6h6 hours ago
'Fans' seem to love to pick & choose the only #Joker mythology the deem worthy. He's not been at all constant in the comics.

#HeathLedger's #Joker deviated from the comics by having scars and face paint. But he was #TheJoker

Arrogant Alien ‏@SonofArrogance 6h6 hours ago
It's all about being faithful to the essence of #TheJoker's character.

#TheJoker has to be different with each interpretation or else will become stagnant and boring.

It crushed me to see Heath Ledger have to put face paint on. I mean really? The Joker is looking in the mirror putting on white makeup, etc.

I learned to love it.

The tats were not a big deal to me. I found the Ledger makeup a more disturbing first reaction. It was just the damaged tattoo that bothered me. My instant reaction was that particular tat was a mistake. I found the makeup made Joker a poor decision.

Turns out the director/creators knew what they were doing and Ledger's Joker turned out to be one of the best villains of all time.

With some backstory on that tat, some great acting, writing, etc... maybe Leto's Joker will be one people learn to love.

Wasn't it The Dark Knight Strikes Again that had Dick Grayson as the Joker?

I'm still not clear on who this Arrogant Alien guy is or why people post his comments.

Joker being Todd just doesn't make sense.

Agreed. It really wouldn't even be a good or clever twist, especially since the context isn't there and hasn't been developed to the point for it to even be a powerful or compelling characterization. It would be a pointless change for the sake of change, much more so than tattoos or face paint.

Yes, Dick Grayson turned out to be a kind of genetically enhanced super-sadistic Joker. There are many ****** ideas floating around in comics and among the fanbase they attract, but it takes a truly **** idea to be endorsed by Frank Miller.

I honestly don't remember what the heck happened in DKSA... I can only remember Carrie in a catsuit. That's it.

Better that way I guess.

I've just bought it on Kindle. I've never read it before and from what I understand, it's supposed to bad...Looking forward to it!

Kind of interesting to think about, but I'm going to echo the No votes.

Plus, Leto was born a year before Affleck, it just wouldn't make sense to me.
It would be interesting if the Batman had seen a homeless man that is his same age and decided that he will be the new Robin.:o

I don't think it's that hard to imagine Leto Joker being early 30s to be honest, Leto doesn't look 43 and Joker a Jason Todd Joker would have added years etched on his face anyway.

Assuming in the DCEU they will have late teen Robins not kid Robins. Jason Todd could have been 18 when tortured by whoever (original Joker perhaps) that could have been 15 years ago making Leto Joker 33, I don't think that is laughable tbh no more laughable than Superman in glasses being unrecognizable.

Not that I'm for this theory, but I don't think ages of the actors would make it stupid.

Maybe Robin's tarnished suit is a message from Dick himself...in his Joker persona! :wow:

What if Scoot Eastwood is playing both Dick and Joker and we will get a scene of him getting naked and burning his Robin suit. Suicide Squad's R rating will come from the full frontal nudity in that scene.

The idea of a former Robin being the Joker is interesting. When you think about it, there is a possibility that there is something to it. The silver-capped teeth after losing his teeth from receiving a beating from the original Joker, the tattoos symbolising the beating and what he remembers from it such as the Jokers crazy laughter while he hits him "HAHAHA", Jokers smile while he sees Robin suffer (the grin tattoo on his arm) and the dead bird tattoo saying that Robin is now dead. There is also the "Damaged" tattoo which is how the original Joker left him.

If the Joker is a former Robin, perhaps it is Dick Grayson as he is the Robin that the main audience and casual viewers will be more familiar with. He would also have the greatest potential for shock value and it would be seen as a greater twist. Correct me if I am wrong but I think it was Grayson's grave that was shown. So if they do the Red Hood or Robin becomes the Joker story then perhaps it will be him that they use.

You could perhaps ask how is the Joker so pale if he was a former Robin? That could debunk the theory of Joker being a former Robin, unless he was subjected to the same chemicals as the original Joker of course.

Like I said, the idea of Joker being a former Robin is interesting and I would be open-minded to it, but I would prefer it if they had Joker just being the Joker and not Dick, Jason or Tim. But if they have better stories to tell with Joker being a former Robin than they would have to tell with him not being a former Robin then I say go for it and make the greatest film and tell the best story that you can.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone remember the first line of dialogue we heard from Jack's Joker? Like in the trailers and whatnot?

Because I remember Ledger's was "Starting tonight, people will die. I'm a man of my word", and now we've got Leto's "Don't worry, I'm not gonna kill ya. I'm just gonna hurt ya really, really bad".

Good question, maybe ask in the Batman '89 thread? Someone there is bound to know.

"Jack? Jack is dead, my friend; but you can call me.....Joker.

And as you can see, I'm a lot happier!"

Followed by (after he shoots Boss Grissam):

"Ah, what a day. [Sees paper] Winged freak. Terrorizes? Wait'll they get a load of me!"

Was that it? I'm talking Jokers first line, not Napiers.

Did the first trailer have all of that?

Yup. Trailers back then showed like 80% of the movie.
