Jared Leto IS The Joker - Part 9

I don't believe the Joker is Robin rumor, and I'd be disappointed if it was true. If a dead Robin shows up back from the grave, they already have a good story to draw from with the Red Hood. I know the Joker/Robin thing has been done, but I never liked it. I'm not worried though, I highly doubt this rumor turns out to be anything more than fanfiction-esque speculation.

If that rumor were true it'd probably make the Iron Man Manderin thing look like nothing.

Jared Leto sounds like Justin Bieber when he says "I will hurt you baby baby bad".

its a silly idea

there's no way that Robin is the one that corrupts Harley Quinn

Joker is Joker, there's no stupid contrived and pointless twist here

While I am not opposed to doing a "Joker is Robin" reveal at some point (since it's been done so many times already), Robin being the one to corrupt Harley Quinn is a terrible idea. I give a big, fat "NO!" to Robin being the Joker in Suicide Squad. Now is not the time to be doing that.

As someone else in this thread stated, if this happens ... It would make the fanboy outrage towards Iron Man 3 disappear. Mandarin, who? :funny:

The idea that there is a rich seam of comicbook lore which supports the notion of The Joker really being a former Robin is completely bogus.

There is a universally panned sequel to an "elseworlds" graphic novel, and an "elseworlds" cartoon set in the future and with a storyline entirely incompatible with what is being suggested for Suicide Squad. Anyone who thinks the revival of the Red Hood character in the comics has anything to do with Jason Todd being The Joker has not read that or any subsequent run.

To put it in perspective, there is far more "support" from the comics for Batman really being a vampire.

The idea is further weakened by the fact that Leto is older than Affleck. Are we really supposed to believe that Bruce Wayne adopted a slightly older adult male as his ward? Yeesh.

The "theory" is truly awful- it is in the tradition of the very worst fan fiction. Fortunately, this movie is not being directed by Peter Jackson.

The thing with Nolan twists is nobody saw them coming.

What!?

Nobody saw that awful death scene coming.

That death will never not crack me up.

Also "catwoman" looking off in the distance/being distracted by something while this woman is dying in front of her.

That's the most grounded and realistic death scene I have ever seen in a movie.

I work in an action movie, and I can tell you this is how people die.

....that's not meant to be a compliment right? Rhetorical question I know when you compare anyone to Justin Bieber it can't be good lol.

If that rumor were true it'd probably make the Iron Man Manderin thing look like nothing.

And incredibly Marvel fans still defend that. Some were even outraged when 'All Hail the King' came out and basically said there is still a real Mandarin out there.

I don't think it's much worse than The Joker being the one who killed Batman's parents in Batman '89, and thus "created" Batman as the movie put it (which also got a big fan backlash). And Harley Quinn is not nearly as important a character as Batman is.

Actually, so far I'm interested by this take on the clown prince of crime. But I can't help joking all the time :csad:

:shock

Why did you think he was lame? Because he wasn't allowed kill?

Hamill's Joker just always seemed like a total cornball to me. Like Cesar Romero's Joker mixed with some mustache-twirling villain who ties women to railroad tracks.

But then, I've never been a big fan of Hamill's acting to begin with. The only thing I've ever felt he was really good in was, of course, the 1970s classic...

Corvette Summer. :cwink:

You know Romero's Joker could have been a mustache twirling villain since he had the mustache right there under the make up :oldrazz:

Ok, well what about the animated movie spin offs like Mask of the Phantasm or Return of the Joker, where they were able to go darker with the character than they could in the cartoon show. Did he fare any better for you in those?

I never actually watched those. I've heard they're good, but I'm not a big cartoon guy to begin with. It's usually a test of patience for me to sit through a movie-length animated film, even CG animation like Pixar. I just don't find them that interesting. I think the only movie-length DC film I've seen is All-Star Superman (which was pretty good, other than Superman being so soft-spoken he sounded like a creep).

Maybe I'll give them a shot at some point though.

I'd definitely recommend them. I think most fans would. Especially Mask of the Phantasm. It's a very mature animated movie. Delves into Batman's past more, and the Joker is a lot more sinister in it.

The more I watch that trailer and listen to the music I feel Leto is gonna kill it!! I mean really! I like how the movie will be dark and you can't have the Joker correctly unless it's dark. I want to watch SS more than BvS and I can't wait for that flick!! Because the better the villians the better the heros have to be. DC has all these villians who can't be beat in one movie! Lex, Joker, etc. I am soooo ready for this! It brings back the darkness of the Nolan days and that's appropriate.

Yeah, that's what I've heard, thanks for the recommendation. I'm sure I'll give them a shot at some point, at least MOTP.

You know what? That's a really good point!

I guess the Joker being the killer of Bruce's parents in Batman '89 worked for me because of the movie's narrative; it made sense to me purely based on the particular story that Tim Burton was telling.

If this twist happens in Suicide Squad, I hope it's done well, and not just for the sake of pointless referencing of other stuff in Batman's universe. If it works for the story, great.

Yeah Mask of the Phantasm is the go to animated movie. Nothing has yet to beat it.
