Documentary/Biopic Jason Reitman to Direct Film About Opening Night of SNL

I don't think I noticed this before, but Brian Welch's voice for Don Pardo is spot-on! Hopefully the film has him include the flub of "the Not for Ready Primetime Players."

Speaking of the history of SNL, you know what would also make for an interesting movie is the behind the scenes of the sixth season, which was the first one without Lorne Michaels and was such a ****show that if it wasn't for Eddie Murphy and to a lesser extent Joe Piscopo the entire show might have been canned.

If we get a sequel, I know which night it should be; SNL 1978.

I’d be down with either of this. Would love to see Reitman do more if this is successful.

Can’t wait to do a double feature catching this in theatres then pop in the first episode of SNL. I’m sure it’ll feel pretty trippy.

If this ends up getting Oscar love, it’ll have been a wild year for Lamorne Morris. As a day one New Girls fan, that would be pretty gratifying to see.

If only CBS hadn’t gotten it’s hooks into Max Greenfield… :argh:

now I want to see some of these actors do remakes of their character counter parts classic movies

So apparently this movie's facing some heat for how it portrays Jim Henson? Apparently it portrays him as a complete loser, which is BS.

I heard that, too! From Eric Goldman- a former IGN reviewer. Hearing that the film is good, but takes some liberties by including pieces of SNL history that happen after the period that this film is focused on, kind of like how Bohemian Rhapsody had some historical events portrayed out of order.

I'm still gonna see it because, well, I'm just a big fan of early SNL in-particular and this cast looks solid.

To be fair, biopics or historical movies take liberties all the time and I still enjoyed Bohemian Rhapsody regardless as a Queen fan. And Ray's entire ending is a load of bull ("And he never did drugs again" even though him relapsing during production of the damn movie is how he died IRL!).

But there's a difference between stuff like that and treating a major name like Jim Henson like trash even though his time there was short and he moved on to bigger and better things.

There's so many cast members that I had no idea Robert Wuhl was in this until now. I can't remember the last time I saw him in anything besides numerous Batman rewatches.

He was in an episode of American Dad a few years ago, but as far as live action goes, I can't think of anything he's been in, either.
