JERICHO (what happens when a nuclear mushroom cloud suddenly appears)!

many people thought that about 24... ;)

Maybe, but thats because of Fox ;)

I just don't think this show will have legs, because really...how much can you do with the premise? It is the type of show that will kind of get old fast.

You are right and wrong. Depending on what happens next, what is it that unfolds? If it is basic and not really layered- it will definitely get old. However, if the route they take is completely unexpected and "wow, what's going to happen next?!" then they might have something. Right now, there isn't enough- that we see- that could fill (I think it is) 5 seasons worth- which is the amount given while testing show ideas to see how long a concept can last- so, there has to be something else to this.

The whole intertube thing at cbs should be interesting to see what happens outside of Jericho-?

But, all depends on where they are going with the show and how it gets there.

I wish people would stop comparing every single show to Lost. it's getting to be ri-goddamn-diculous.

After watching the pilot it does seem very Lost-like. However, without the layers and mysteries Lost has. Sure there are mysteries, like how many attacks actually happened, but it's gonna have to expand beyond this one little town, in my opinion. Have the producers mentioned a "master plan", that they have a framework past the first season, Prison Break seemed like a one season show, but the producers always mentioned a "master plan". First episode didn't grab me, but I'm willing to give it two more, if it doesn't pick up by then it'll join Vanished on my list of don't bother shows.

I don't know, seems a lot like what Prison Break did with the mobile phone stuff and after seeing that, I'm not even going to bother with the intertube stuff. Low production values, bad acting and doesn't tie in with the main story.

Just going to watch it to see, or try to see what is happening outside of Jericho- might offer more clues as to what is actually going on.... is this a massive terrorist attack? If so from where? Why? Etc.

But yeah, those Prison Break mobile phone stuff was pretty disappointing especially since it had no importance at all. I was hoping for at least a character cameo or a mention of an event- yet, nada, nothing....

Just hoping this content isn't the same type of deal and actually strongly ties into the show.

I watched it tonight and i thought it was pretty interesting. Let's just hope they don't cancell it half way through the season.

Liked it

Can already tell whose gonna be the pain the ass in the series :cmad:

the Mayor's rival :o

i liked it too... and disagree with the poster above who questioned how far they could stretch the premise.

the premiere alone set up so many different storylines. there's of course the overarching crisis/survival storyline... but there's also many relationships/character developments that can be explore. i.e. jake with his ex-girlfriend, jake with the teacher on the bus, jake with his dad, his dad with his mayoral competitor, the recent transplant from "st. louis" who seems to know a lot... about everything.

i think they can do tons here.

eries premiere of JERICHO was second in households (7.5/12), viewers (11.40m), adults 25-54 (4.4/12, -0.2 behind ABC) and adults 18-49 (3.2/10). This is the best regularly scheduled delivery in the time period since January 5, 2005 in households ("60 Minutes Wednesday"), February 4, 2004 in viewers ("60 Minutes Wednesday"), February 26, 2003 in adults 25-54 ("Star Search") and May 17, 2006 in adults 18-49 ("The Amazing Race 9" finale).

Compared to the same night last year (the season premieres of "Still Standing" and "Yes Dear"), JERICHO was up +63% in both households (from 4.6/07) and adults 25-54 (from 2.7/07), +39% in adults 18-49 (from 2.3/07), +22% in adults 18-34 (2.2/08 from 1.8/06) and added +4.60m viewers (from 6.80m, +68%).

“Jericho”

http://www.medialifemagazine.com/artman/publish/article_7539.asp

“Jericho,” which debuted last Wednesday, Sept. 20., at 8 p.m., takes the most risks of the new CBS shows, attempting to capture life in small-town America after a nuclear attack. It's a decent to somewhat promising drama but it ends up not looking quite as good as it would have if it premiered a few years ago. It comes off as something that might work well over the summer on Sci Fi.

Gerald McRaney gives a strong performance as the town’s mayor, but Skeet Ulrich has trouble carrying the show as his mysterious son. The first episode was a mix of intriguing ideas dragged down by heavy-handed contrivances. It also suffers from two often conflicting storylines, as part family drama and part sci-fi thriller. Going forward it's going to have to decide on one or the other if it is to improve its ratings.

The debut did much better than media people expected, finishing second in its timeslot in total viewers and 18-49s and, most promisingly, gaining viewers from start to finish.

I thought the first episode was tense and spine chilling finding out that there was another attack. But, this episode- my god, I really felt devestated and terrified. I really like where this is going but hopefully this does not effect the ratings. Because, I think they really have something here- hopefully it isn't too soon.

how many pins was the guy putting in there at the end? every major city?

Yeah, I think so... guess they'll reveal more next episode.

NYC got hit, I think...

Kinda disappointed no one was caught in the rainstorm. Makes the series too safe, as long as you get screen time you're okay. I know last season, TV was kinda trigger happy, but we need a little menace in a series about a massive nuclear attack.

Atlanta, Philadelphia, Chicago, San Diego and three more they didn't show. Plus Denver of course, but we knew that already.:cwink:

It showed him put them at Denver, Atlanta, San Diego, Chicago, and I believe Philidelphia.....then it showed him pick up 3 more (but didn't show where he put them) before the picture went to black.

What I want to know is why is he hiding it?

Saying that this guy isn't supposed to be "mr. mysterious" and the audience just view him that way...

Perhaps he thinks that it would currently put Jericho under too much pressure and wants the town to focus on fixing Jericho and what is going on in Jericho rather than in other parts of the country.

I don't think this is the case, but just looking at this character as though he doesn't mean to be mysterious.... that might be a possible motivation.

maybe he knew the attack would happen and moved his family to Jericho knowing that place would be safe when the attack came.

Anyway....anyone see the highlights for next weeks episode...looks like they WILL be venturing out to other parts of the US. But...how...if there's radiation there....won't they die?
