JERICHO (what happens when a nuclear mushroom cloud suddenly appears)!

Maybe Robert will open up to what he knows. Then when the ppl plan things out for their venturing. They'll make it a point to avoid the big cities that have been hit.

Loved last nights episode. It was chilling how "the cop" kept putting pins on different major cities as the paces of attack. I think New York and Montana (?) were hit too.

'Jericho' Nukes Competition, CBS Takes Wednesday

CBS WON WEDNESDAY NIGHT, BUT it got an even better result with "Jericho," its new drama, which became the first new show of the season to grow week-to-week in ratings.

"Jericho," the apocalyptic drama, climbed to a Nielsen preliminary 3.6 rating--up 13 percent from a 3.2 the week before in the 8 p.m. time slot. All the while, a competing new drama--NBC's "Kidnapped," which was running at 10 p.m.--sank a staggering 25 percent, week-to-week, landing at an anemic 2.1 rating among 18-49 viewers.

CBS earned a 4.5 rating/13 share for the night. ABC was next at a 4.2/11. There was good news for both networks: Each was upa couple tenths of a rating point. Fox came in at a lower 2.7/7 for the evening--although it, too, rose versus its numbers of a week ago. NBC was next at a 2.6/7. Then came the CW at a 2.1/6. Univision pulled up the rear with a 1.7/4.

I think it's a GREAT show....but only concern is how can they stretch things out? I mean...it can't center around the town all the time...there's only so much you can do with that...I hope we will see a lot of exploration OUTSIDE of the town.

Good episode tonight. This Robert character gets creepier by the minute. From what we've seen in this episode. The guy seems to be a over controlling husband/father. And the whole scene with him at the storage place. Suggest that he mght be one of those end of the world nut-cases. I mean dude looked like he's ready for war. Then the preview for the next week's episode tells me he might be part of the attack. Anyway, good stuff tonight

edit:

Oh yah. That was kinda ****ed up how Emily tells Jake he should be dead and her husband, or whatever, should be alive.

Finally the episode with my daughter in it. She was pulled out of the mine. Pretty funny to see her. LOL

Great. Great episode. It was good to have a 'relief' episode due to all that we've been through with the towns people of Jericho. Damn does this feel awkwardly like reality television- in a good way. I mean, the scene of Dale finding the food was great, "food!!!" Which is kind of a funny notion, but can't help it because of how the show engulfs the audience into it's world - where food, everyday, can be "yes!!!" type moment. Just a really great episode.

BTW, I will try to type up specific portions of a recent Starlog interview that I found interesting and post them. Bewarn though- there will be major spoilers.

Interview: Executive Producer Carol Barbee

On the early stages of the first couple of episodes:

So the first couple of episodes cover a day, a day and a half or two days. After that we have a family drama going on and romances between different characters. There’s a political struggle in the town, and the Mayor is struggling to do the right by his people and keep everybody together because, in these circumstances, it’s all about survival. Because some people become ‘Might is right’ and ‘I have to survive at the expense of whomever.’ So it’s about keeping people together and the town functioning and reminding people that these are their neighbors- ‘Let’s look out for each other.’ That’s what going on in the early stages.

‘The new Old West’:

As time goes on, the town loses power and communication, and there are reasons for all this that have been layered in by the writers after talking with experts. So they lose power, the Internet, and cell phones, and they’re essentially cut off. The town starts to devolve into what we call ‘the new Old West,’ because they run out of gas. They can make bio-diesel, but they can’t produce much of it. And it’s precious. So people begin to ride horses again. They ride motorcycles for a while, but they get to horses. We often talk about the quintessential visual signature of the show, and it became a horse tied up to a parking meter outside of an Internet café. You’ll see horses pulling tractor-trailers full of stuff because there’s no longer any gas.

Discussing Rod Hawkins:

We have this character named Rod Hawkins. He’s a stranger who moves to town the day before the bombs hit, and he has come for a very specific reason. We’re going to be watching him. He’s a focal point.

Dismissing the possibility of supernatural forces:

We want it to be as realistic as possible. So, no there won’t be any SF elements, none of that. No monsters in the woods. We’re trying very hard to create a landscape that the audience can put themselves into and say, ‘Wow, what would I do? How would I survive? How would I react in that situation? We realize that we’re asking the audience to take a huge leap with us in that there’s this massive attack. But, we have an answer for how that could happen. And that, again, is based in reality. We hope it never occurs, but the premise isn’t completely fantastic.

A factual reality:

Everyone on the show did some investigation, and we all came to the table with different opinions. There are varied answers to all of these questions. Ultimately, we settled on a reality that was based in fact according to certain experts who weren’t crackpots. We chose a reality that works dramatically for the show, but is also grounded in truth.

In our research we’re finding out how much misinformation there is about radiation, nuclear weapons and all of that stuff we live in mortal terror of. And in doing all this research and talking to expects, I think Jericho is actually a good opportunity to get out some of that information about what would happen and how people can rise to the challenge and take care of themselves.

The hook of the show:

What I believe will hook people who watch our first two episodes is the characters and their goodness. But, obviously there are characters who go to the dark side- and you may be surprised by who does. Jericho is really about who you become when fact with this sort of situation.

The whole psychological and social aspect is fascinating to me. And it’s fun being in the writer’s room, because we have all these guys who are interested in conspiracy theories. I love that stuff too, but what entertains me and keeps me watching are the interpersonal relationships and psychological consequences that result from such an event. We’ve been working on this for a long time, and when the whole thing started happening with North Korea and the testing of the missiles, I said to my husband, ‘Well nuclear was isn’t so funny now.’ But, I hope this remains a far-fetched premise for a while, because there’s something invaluable about us being able to explore this situation from a safe distance.

'Ugly Betty,' 'Jericho,' 'Heroes' Show Signs of Season Winners

Jer_15.jpg

The New York Times writes that, in addition to Ugly Betty, two other shows that look as though they may be winners are Heroes on NBC and Jericho on CBS. Jericho, for example, has helped CBS improve ratings it its 8:00 p.m. time slot on Wednesday - which it has struggled with for years.

Can anyone understand the Morse Code message over the opening title?

That's funny, cuz all three got picked up for full seasons.

'Jericho' Gets a Full-Season Order

Get ready for 22 episodes of Skeet squinting

Skeet Ulrich of 'Jericho'

Crediting it with contributing to a night of solid ratings growth, CBS has picked up a back nine for the freshman drama "Jericho."

The Wednesday night drama, which features Skeet Ulrich and Gerald McRaney has averaged 11.3 million viewers and a 3.4 rating among adults 18-49. In an 8 p.m. slot most recently occupied by comedies, "Jericho" has boosted viewership by 48 percent and the 18-49 demo rating by 36 percent compared to last year.

CBS will now have 22 episodes of "Jericho," which kicks off a night that has seen an overall viewership bump of 34 percent and a demo increase of 22 percent despite intense competition from the other networks, ABC in particular.

"Jericho," which focuses on the aftermath of a nuclear explosion and how one Kansas town is impacted, may not have premiered with huge numbers, but viewership has remained almost identical week-to-week, showing no drop against baseball on FOX or, this past week, the premiere of NBC's new comedy block.

The drama from executive producers Jon Turtletaub, Stephen Chbosky and Carol Barbee joins "Heroes" on the list of new shows receiving full-season orders.

i hate how some people in the town are still acting like nothing happened. you have people drinking in bars and playing pool, and even more annoying the teens partying?
the mood should definitely be more depressing.

Actually, when you think about it...it's probably pretty accurate in it's portrayal of what real people would be doing or trying to do. It would annoy many...but in the extreme circumstances the town finds itself, there would undoubtably be a number of people who would struggle to maintain life as though nothing had happened...their way of coping maybe?

someone needs to at least mention that. instead of everyone pretending that it's normal for kids to have parties or adults hanging out in bars.

So am I the only one who watched Jericho tonight?

Nope.......:woot:

Being an ex water department employee....I was taking note of the water situation on the show. If the electric has been off for several days (I think they are up to day 3 now).....the water treatment plant hasn't been producing water....so what was in the water towers should be gone by now.

Good episode.

At last someone catches Hawkin's sneaking ass. It was kind of funny how it was done though. Luckily for Hawkin, it seems Jake will keep it just between the 2 of them.

The highlight of the episode, IMO, was when Hawkins was doing a search on Jake over the web. We get some type of clue onto what/where Jake had been during those 5 years away from Jericho. From the looks of it. It looks like Jake was either a terrorist, C.I.A agent, or free lance mercenary.

Eric is a dick. Choose one already and end this love story. :cmad:

The missiles launching at the end is another worth-mentioning moment. Kind of a late response by the U.S. if you ask me.

That was my favorite part of the episode. IMO it was a "Oh Sh@t!!!" moment.

I think Hawkins is a US Government agent. I was expecting to see the President address the nation when the EBS transmission stopped and the Presidential conference room appeared on TV.

i watched..another good ep..loving this show a lot.

i'm not sure, im kinda thinking that maybe it was another attack by the people who dropped the first bomb

Anyone think Jake could be the traitor in the terrorist group. it might be possible that not all cells met each other and why him and Rod are strangers. It could explain why he left the big city in the first place.

We need to start getting some answers about what's happened. I'm tired of seeing a new town crisis every week, open things up, give us some insight on the larger picture.

the bar is the only place with a satellite dish. that is why everyone congregates their. plus it is a small town where everyone knows each other. its like a big family so they might want to be in a public place with everybody.
