It's funny... because it's sad.

I actually think that Hackman is hands down the most underrated version of Lex. People act like he was an over the top 60's Batman villain, but his Lex was often a cold hearted bastard.

Yeah, but if that's the case, I don't want to see a more 'obvious' choice, because it takes even less effort on their part. This challenges them to step up more, and overall that should be better for a film altogether.

That's kinda bull **** mate, you can still pick the 'obvious choice' and still do something totally different. All you've gotten so far is a different aesthetics, you may end up getting something very similar to traditional Lex for all we know. Just because something may be a challenge doesn't mean they are up to the challenge.

You know, I'm kind of starting to hope all these outrageous announcements are just attempts to brew up as much controversy about the film as possible, get attention, you know.

And when they feel they have enough eyes on the project they instantly reverse all their casting choices and send this project in a moderately sane direction again.

Would it be so bad if he retained his hair.......................

This casting is more controversial than the casting of Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot.

I am not a big fan of MOS but man it is just a genius casting.
I am seriously shocked and impressed by Snyder :wow:

I think I know what's going on.

They have a wheel of fortune wheel with actors on it for every role.

Next up: Jonah Hill as The Flash and Will.I.Am as Green Lantern.

Jonah Hill is Green Lantern already.

Would it be so bad if he retained his hair.......................

You mean Lex Luthor not have the one, single identifying characteristic he has and has almost always had?

Sure why not.

I think a lot of fans miss the part where actors have to audition/test for a role and impress a lot of people who are far more wise than us when it comes to these matters.

People seem to have the idea that they randomly pick these actors out of scrapbook or via a game of Eenie Meanie Miney Moe.

Lex in the comics and other media most of the time has an inferiority complex when it comes to Superman and he's still incredibly well built and athletic.

That's one of the things that makes Lex great as a character. Lex has all this stuff. His money, his genius, his incredible health.

But he's still jealous of Superman and hates him because of his abilities and the fact that so many people love Superman.

Yeah but Snyder isn't exactly subtle.

Was really hoping Joaquin would wind up as Lex, but it was not to be and now we are getting Eisenberg as Lex after all is said and done. I am a bit disappointed, because Joaquin would have killed it.

Still, Eisenberg is decent choice and is an underrated actor and I think he will do fine...but I was hoping we would see more of an A list actor like Joaquin, Denzel or McConaghey.

I have no problem at all with Irons as Alfred. He will own as Alfred and he may even have a chance at being better than Caine.

This version of Lex Luthor will be very intimidating. I'm sure he'll be the second most protected man on Earth behind the PotUS. He'll be young, either inheriting money or being a very young success case, such as Zuckerberg... Depends if they want to include some Lionel. Lex Luthor's role has been rumored to be a 5 picture deal.

He'll be the puppet master of the DC Universe.

I'd imagine he'll have very little screen time with Superman. I'd imagine most of his screen time will be with Lois (from the "good side"). The majority of his screentime will be of his impact on society and how he's contributed. He'll look like a good guy. The Savior of Metropolis. He may always feel like he's doing the right thing. He may always have the point of view that he's the man to save Earth, i.e. alien hater...

I'd imagine at first, Superman will try to protect Lex from Batman. I could see Superman and Batman squaring off at a LexCorp building in Metropolis. Later, Supes goes to Gotham to investigate Bruce and that's when you introduce Diana.

Bruce and Lois investigating Lex. Clark and Dianna investigating Bruce Wayne (Clark knows who he is, Diana looking for her property).

Maybe WW helps Superman with Metallo, Batman outs Lex as the mastermind...

i wonder if the fanboys are aware that if LL will be skinny with hair it will be because it will be a creative choice from WB.

there is no way that Jesse would tell WB to no bulk up and not shave the hair.

Jesse has a fantastic head for LEX. hes cheeks, jaw, eye position are perfect for LL. he is skinny. he can gain 5 kg of body weight which is nothing for a superhero in a tight suit. but 5 kg for LL is A LOT. give him a modern business suit and let Jesse act. no auto-acting that you see from lazy actors . no leave him alone to prepare and give him creative control. and you have a groundbreaking performance.

No. As long as they cut it a bit and slick it back and make him look like a clean cut obsessive type.

Actually I'd rather see him skinny in this, then in future instalments he's bulked up, subconciously competing with Superman.

I guess they think Eisenberg and Gadot got their roles by washing Zack Synder's car in bikinis.

Less likely if they're as 'less-competent' as you're making them out to be. Just because something is easier doesn't mean they'll do it better.

And just because it's a crazy idea doesn't mean they will suddenly have the ability to pull it off. Again we're talking about a batch of inconsistent people behind the scenes here.

I disagree. Often, having outside of the box materials to work with strengthens the product creatively. If they used a more standard actor that looked more typical, then it'd be more likely that'd they play the role as expected. Here.. this frees them up to be more creative, to take chances. And the thing about big risks.... they can lead to big rewards.

At this point with this movie I don't think there will be an "in between". It'll either suck complete balls or be off the wall good.

There's no turning back.

Unexpected casting, however I'm very curious to see how this will play out. We could be seeing another Breakout performance similar to Heath Ledger now with Jesse as Lex Luthor.
