BvS Jesse Eisenberg IS Lex Luthor - - Part 11

I have a question. Whats to stop Lex from telling the world who Superman and probably Batman is when he inevitably gets out of prison in the next movie or two?

I thought the same thing.

Either Lex won't be back (hope that he is for future Supes solos) or he'll have a better reason to keep it a secret than let it slip.

Not sure if it was mentioned as a possibility but curious what everyone else thinks as a possibility for future storylines:

He mentions his father building his empire and that's about it. Past tense but never "My father is dead" or anything. Would this lead to the possibility of his father showing up in future iterations? Cranston was an initial choice before they made the switch so this would be a chance to have a cake and eat it too

Never seemed like he cared about their identities, he was more interested in exposing Superman as being a fraud. That hes not a good person. Revealing that hes a farm boy from Smallville doesn't do anything for him, he still wants to prove this God-like being is bad for humanity.

The marketing team released a fake interview with him talking about his dead father for a little bit.

If they had done to a possible Jesse Eisenberg's Jimmy Olsen what they did to Olsen in this film, then I would maybe have been less miffed about that character's fate.

lol me too. One minute on screen of Jesse is better.

I love this Lex.

He has great lines about God being tribal and you can see how he truly hates someone like Superman and other meta humans because of his knowledge is power statement.

He is the most knowledgable yet his power doesn't compare to them which really pisses him off.

I haven't seen the movie and really have no urge to, but I do like reading reviews and discussion of movies regardless. Anyway, without seeing it I know I can't really comment but this description sounds so much like it was borrowed from one of literature's greatest villain protagonist: Lucifer in Paradise Lost. Well to be more accurate it sounds like it's referencing the speeches Lucifer gives in hell to rally the other fallen.

Overall, I found him fun to watch, although there were scenes with him that I also found difficult to watch. I don't think that he was a good Luthor, but I think that he could have been a great Riddler.

THIS ! SO MUCH THIS !!!! i was saying this before he was even cast as luthor. they really messed up by not casting him as riddler or anything else more fitting for him tbh

I will say other than Doomsday Lex was my main issue with the movie. I thought some of his scenes worked really well and he came across as suitably evil and sadistic. But in others, yeah, I wasn't feeling the performance.

I like the idea of a young hip fast-talking Luthor but I think they could have chosen a slightly more imposing actor who didn't seem so boyish.

I hated how, once again, we got a Lex that just lazily lets alien technology do the hard work for him. It would have been one thing if Lex took Zod's body into his lab and experimented on it, ultimately turning him in Doomsday or Bizarro. Instead, we got another case of "Lex walks into [INSERT ALIEN FORTRESS HERE] and asks the computer to do something for him." It reminded me of the part in Superman Returns where he waltzes into the Fortress and Jor-El tells him that Kryptonian crystals are apparently the comic book equivalent of those little action figures I had as a kid that you put in water and then they grow 10 times their original size.

Stupid, lazy writing. Hey Terrio, pick up a damned comic book. Lex has come up with plenty of doomsday weapons all on his own without having to resort to "Hey do this for me while I watch."

Everything this little twerp knows is from the ship telling him everything. Like AH-HAH! I now know all the secrets! I stumbled upon this information, and now im gonna try to blackmail everyone! It's so lazy like you guys said.

Cranston should have been Luthor. There shouldn't be a Junior. Eisenberg should have been the Riddler and had a very small part in Arkham Asylum in a future Batman movie. But Eisenberg probably would have passed. I guess that works out too!

dont see how thats any different than dr. strange going to some bald lady and saying teach me. How else is he supposed to understand Alien technology without the ship teaching it to him?

I was so against this casting for Lex, but Jesse and the writing proved me wrong. He worked really well in the film and showed how far Luthor can go in order to destroy his enemies.
He hates Superman because he represents God, and Lex hates God because he couldn't save him from his evil father. He simply can't trust and all powerful being like Superman and he's jealous.

I was skeptical of him when he was cast, seeing his performance only confirmed it.

i can see why it didn't work for some but i wholeheartedly enjoyed his take on Lex.

Didn't care for this version of Lex at all. I cringed at several scenes featuring EisenLex. They had an opportunity to portray the version of Lex I always wanted to see after wasting the great talents of Kevin Spacey in Returns who could have pulled off an absolute classic performance. But Oh well......

I have no desire to see him return even with his bald head.

My brother and I really enjoyed him. I prefer his bald look for future films

I thought I wanted a more impossing actor, but Jesse's portrayal and pathos made me realize that what makes Lex a great villain is his mind. He's always ahead of the rest. He always has a plan in case something doesn't work. I won't be surprise if he escapes from jail.

I'm sure it's been posted on here but someone on the DC Cinematic subreddit posted a pic of Lex in prison (potential future DCEU spoiler)
he's gone to Belle Reve. Same prison as Suicide Squad.

I always feel the most threatening aspect of Lex is his intelligence. I'm sad that it's never really been shown properly in films

It's a tricky thing to get right. Probably because you need to be fairly smart to wright really intelligent characters. Even TDK has the Joker rely a lot on plot armor rather than come off as purely intelligent, which indicates the difficulty of the task.

Eisenberg would've made a great version of the X-men villain Arcade. He looked and dressed like him and even had a similar personality at times.

I didn't like that Luthor only had his hair shaved off at the end. I was hoping he'd lose it in an accident.

I can see Lex getting much darker if he is in another movie in this universe. and keeping his head bald as a sign of his new image.
