BvS Jesse Eisenberg IS Lex Luthor - Part 2

After the initial "Oh, Snyder" reaction, I think I can really dig it. The manips of bald Eisenberg and, oddly, the Screen Junkies video from page 1 actually got me feeling like this could be pretty cool. I like the modern day young billionaire angle. Eisenberg can be more than a bald Zuckerberg.

As for those complaining about his physique, well, y'all never cease to be hilarious.

Want to see someone who REALLY didn't take this news well? To give you some perspective that the reactions of people here ain't so bad?

Look up @Ryan_Wagner on Twitter. Can't link to it because he says some really terrible things. But his anger is hilarious.

LOL! He even went after Kevin Smith with an insult and he actually RT'd him. Smith said ''He's not the architect of mass genocide; he's just playing Lex Luthor.'' :woot:

Has anyone been saving the better "I'm done with this" quotes? I always mean to when we get news like this, just to repost them when the inevitable back-peddling begins. But, as usual, I have procrastinated too much.

That person on Twitter does know that they are a complete embarrassment to humanity right?

It'll be amazing when the first trailer hits and the back peddling starts for Affleck and Eisenberg. The reaction to the TDK trailer was hilarious after all the bashing Ledger was getting, I've never seen opinion turn around THAT fast.

a little late but LMFAOOOOOOOO

I think people are bringing up Rosenbaum when talking about size and physical intimidation, neither of which Rosenbaum against his Superman counterpart.

Rosenbaum and Shea both weren't physically imposing, true. Heck, no live-action Lex really was compared to Superman. But they were all relatively tall, charismatic, and could pull off manipulative and evil exceptionally well. Well, maybe except for Hackman, he was goofy Lex.

But Eisenberg has 3 things going against him. He's short (the shortest Lex we had so far), looks too young, and he sounds very young as well. He may be 30, but physically he can still pass for someone in his early 20s, and sounds like someone in his late teens.

I actually disliked the idea of Ledger in the role even after the previews. I liked Ledger but I was not happy about his being cast as Joker, at all. I'm going to keep saying that because unlike some people on Hype I'm not trying to pretend that I was always on board with Ledger or RDJ as Iron Man for that matter. You will get no revisionist history from ole SPIDEY.

I've decided to take a wait and see attitude on these films because I don't want to look like an A-hole again. I'll ultimately decide if the actor is good or bad in the role after seeing the actor play the role.

Eh, everyone should be able to voice their likes or dislikes, without being branded an ***hole. Otherwise the Forums would be mighty boring if we just accept every decision that is being made, and then wait for the Movie release to finally voice our opinion.

I was referring to myself in that post and who said you weren't free to whine and declare a piece of casting a failure before seeing the actor play the role? I'm not a mod nor do I own this site.

You know what's funny is that Eisenberg was actually up for Jonah Hill's role in Superbad. Which means that, by extension and in a weird way, Jonah Hill was also a possibility for Luthor. Lol, if THAT doesn't give you some perspective...

No, but I perfectly understand why people don't like it. Even though I'm sure that at some point during the production and promotion process up ahead, more than a few will jump on the wagon. Eisenberg is not that bad of a choice to keep that from happening.

Saw this comment.

I'm guessing Zack Snyder wanted to kill the Ben Afleck Batman ****storm stone dead?

What do you think? Did it work? :funny:

Has anyone mentioned Batfleck much since Eisenberg was cast? Not so much, no. So mission accomplished. I guess at least Ben can relax now.:woot:

You know what's interesting to talk about? Baldness.
Seriously, I just have a nasty feeling that he's gonna keep his hair in this one. For some strange ****ing reason they seem dead set on changing things for the sake of change. They took Supermans trunks away, at least let his villain remain bald.

But tbh he doesn't need to be bald. And the trunks were taken away cause they were outdated.

Anyway I think he'll have hair until the films end.

An interesting quote from RT's Weekly Ketchup:

"[E]xactly who is THIS Lex Luthor? If he's a billionaire genius, what kind of billionaire? What kind of genius? Is this new Lex Luthor a "villain" at all? Or just a misunderstood man who uses his finances to address the alien in a blue suit who is the only one left standing after a battle that destroyed most of Metropolis?"

I found the bolded part very interesting. Maybe the much maligned destruction in MOS could be an interesting plot point here. I could see Lex turning public opinion against Superman and towards himself. Maybe setting up, I dunno, political goals?

My reaction to this is people need to stop worrying about it, at least until there's something to actually worry about. Jesse Eisenberg, although not the fan choice, is who we're getting. Just because he wasn't YOUR choice doesn't make it a bad one, at all. Sure, it's ok to be shocked, I think they expected it, but at the same time, I think they know what they're doing better than we do. It'll work out the way it was supposed to all along, you just don't know it yet.

Least you guys didn't have Katie Holmes in a Batman film....

You're describing about 99.9% of the people of Twitter (and really any social network).

I think I miss the old days when people had to really work to get their voice out there...because let's be honest...not everyone was meant to have a public forum for their thoughts and ideas...
...I really think this is why we are seeing so many famous people saying dumb things...back in the day there were so many people between the talent and the public to prevent someone from being stupid. Rock Hudson may have said "I hate Black people" but by the time it went through publicists and managers and agents and the studio's publicity team it was turned into "I hope everyone loves this movie Im working on."

We could grow with this Lex. Maybe Lex even starts out as the underdog of his own journey and overcomes massive odds and obstacles to brilliantly become the worlds most ambitious CEO of the most powerful company in the world with the help of inner sociopathic crookery, only to have his power ripped out from underneath him from Supe's presence alone, which really sets him off the cooky-bin. Of course, the mastermind and intellect this Lex could have can be scene-stealing moments with Cavill in the entire franchise. I'll bank on it those moments happen!
