I was hoping that when I woke up, Jesse Eisenberg wouldn't be Lex and I was being punked yesterday.

It didn't come true. God I hate this pick.

He doesn't appeal to me. I've never been a fan of Eisenberg. He is not a bad actor, I just don't like him. He seems too "funny" to me. Obviously he was cast because he auditioned well for the part though. Personally though, I don't like him.

Heh, it does feel a bit like getting punked. A lot wanted "Heisenberg". Who do we get? Eisenberg. :funny:

I think this is the most controversial casting choice since Ledger.

Funny how some people contradict themselves. If I remember correctly, many people were defending the idea of Batman being much older than Superman by saying Batman needs to be older in order for him taking on Superman to make sense. Yet the same people aren't applying the same rule to Luthor, who is played by an actor that looks much younger than Cavill.

They might want a Zuckerberg-esque Luthor, but he's still, in all likelihood, the film's master villain. I doubt that the guy who puts all his actors through Gym Jones and uses the words "awesome" and "cool" as his mantra is gonna want a Luthor in sneakers and a t-shirt.

I'd have doubted that guy would've cast Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor too.

This just kinda sucks. :-/ That's my feeling on it today. What a letdown... this is the intimidating guy Cavill's Superman's archenemy will be.

I guess it could work. He already looks decent bald in manips. Now he just needs to slow down his speech pattern and try to deepen his voice a bit. If he doesn't manage to do that though, it's going to be hard to buy him as Superman's arch-nemesis. I'll always be thinking, why has he so much trouble with this little boy?

You know, I almost feel like he should be bald not out of faithfulness to the comics, but simply to help separate Lex from Zuckerberg. That's my biggest fear now, that we're gonna get roughly that same performance and not something radically different from anything he's ever done. I hope I'm wrong, but I just feel like he wouldn't have got this role if he hadn't played another morally ambiguous billionaire CEO before.
.

C'mon, man. You're smarter than this. Why on Earth would he give roughly the same performance and why would the filmmakers want him to? Yes, Zuckerberg was a semi-ruthless CEO and billionaire, but he was unlikable and generally anti-social through and through. He was a character who alienated his friends not because he was evil, but because he simply didn't care. There's no way they make this Luthor like that. If anything, he'll have to be extremely charismatic and popular on the surface, with his ruthless agenda and true personality hidden beneath.

It just boggles my mind that some people don't have faith that an actor can have any shred of range. Instead, they assume that because he did one thing once, that's all he can do and all that we'll get.

What is this "look much younger" crap? Cavill looks like a 30 year old man, do you really think Eisemberg looks 20 or younger? Why must people engage in hyperbole just because they don't like the pick?

Are you sure they're the same people?

Because their butts hurt? Who knows.

Hmmmm. I'm alright with it. I'd rather wait for the film itself and judge by then. I don't know how he'd look like though - would it be when he still had hair or would they use the power of makeup? Aside from that, I'm fine with it.

I don't see how that is a hyperbole. Some people just think he looks way younger than his age.

Saw at least two. I guess it was wrong of me to make it come off as such a generalization, but I digress. I just wanted to point that out.

Who looks like a 30 year old man? This?
