Hero's better. But what did you think was the better tragic story anyway? :wow: :hyper:

Hero would be better if the films before the credits were reversed.:)

I liked how it took its time to slowly unravel the meaning of its story, as this nameless warrior dude plans to assasinate the king, finally gets to a point where he can do it, but as his character arc shows us, he's changed his views about killing. Within th first ten minutes of 300, I knew all I needed to know, the story was so blunt and in your face... meh.

I love Hero also, they're both visually stunning, they both have some great themes, they both have incredible action...

300 gave me the visual spectacle of LOTR and Sin City, with some excellent politically themes about a religious fanatic that fancies himself as God and finds it perfectly acceptable to usurp smaller territories because he thinks bigger automatically means better and he carries on about everything he does being for the greater good, even when he's getting thousands (many of them his own) people killed...
I love stories that give me a social commentary I can relate too; plus 300 is one of the most purely entertaining films I've ever witnessed.

300 was the better film IMO. Hero was good but when he leaves his home after
his family is killed
, I got really bored with it until he went back home as a Warrior.

And it's precisely why I hate you all. Seriously "excellent politically themes about a religious fanatic"

This makes me die inside. Piercings Guy was a 2d as a member of Team Rocket on Pokemon. "Ha ha ha, I just want your earth and water pokemon! give them to meeeee!"

I understand people enjoyed this movie, because it had some cool visuals and stuff but the way they're reading into it as if it had some great depth is frankly making me uncomfortable about who I'm dealing with here on the interweb. It's all good though. We can be civil.

I wasn't saying that Xerxes was multi-dimensional, I didn't think he needed to be. He's a greedy, selfish, ego-maniac that controls subjects through blind subserviance, and that's all he really needed to be.
300 has themetic elements, but there's no question it's primary intent is to entertain and exhilerate, which it delievered in surplus.
I never said it was a deeper film than Hero, simply a more relateable one, and a more entertaining one.

Yessssssss, I know. Those thematic elements you say are there were so easy to spot because they were shouted at us every five seconds. I'm not trying to convince anyone anyway of my views though. Like what you like.

Where's that Zev guy who likes to make parody scripts of films on here. He's the best user to read whenever movies come out...

I guess it is up to me. La la la.

Here we go:

301 Spartamations

Slow Motion: Hi I'm slow motion and I'm going to be used in ever single scene to make things look epic and cool, but they won't. They'll just look slow.

Messenger: Give up your land or else!! ha ha ha

Lionodus: No. Kick!

Sarlacc Pit: First boba, now a bunch of Persians. It's my lucky day.

Lionodus: We must fight or else this movie will be boring.

300: Ah OOOOOH!

Lionodus: Sorry for stepping on your foot, mate.

300: It's ok.

Jedi Council: Don't go.

Lionodus: **** you.

_INSERT GRATUITOUS NUDITY_

Lionodus: Ok, time to battle, boys. Oil up those pecks now. We want to look our sunday best for battle.

_INSERT 25 CENTS TO BEGIN LEVEL 1_

FIGHT!

BOOF

ZAP

ZWOMP

BIFF

POW!!

mortal kombat!

Finish him!

Movie: DONE.

Audience: Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.

Well you could pretty much give any film an asinine parody like that; I've seen it done many times with Hero essentially being the same story told over and over with "hey wait a minute, this didn't actually happen, here's how it REALLY happened....*10 minutes later* That didn't really happen either, now THIS is how it really happend....*15 minutes later* Ok, that wasn't it either, and now, etc..."

Like I said, I love them both, and of course the primary intent of 300 was to entertain not to enlighten, it was an action film with drama in it, alot of other films are the other way around; I think they can both work fine, as was the case for both of these films.
