Thank you for all the love and support! The fan mail and fan art has added to my joy! Isn't it crazy that Star Wars is actually happening? I'm in the movie but as a star wars fan I am very excited! A year is a long time but it will be worth the wait.

Idiots if they're upset about his casting because of the colour of his skin. I personally don't think he was that great in attack the block. But he has had time to learn his craft and will be with a good director and some great actors. Hope he does really well.

I'm a reasonable and fair guy, but just a gut feeling tells me that a white dude popped up in that desert shot, half of the internet would be complaining.

IF he has what was needed to portray the character, then his race or color of his skin shouldn't be a factor at all.

And I'm personally glad that we're going to be seeing a non-white actor/character be portrayed as one of the leads for a big franchise like this.

Plus, on another note, it makes me hopeful that we'll hopefully see Asian actors get lead roles like this in the future as well. (FYI since I'm Asian as well)

This, and we can hardly blame Liam Neeson, Christopher Lee or Natalie Portman's acting skills for that trilogy's utter failure.

idk if anyone else saw this the way I did, but it's likely Boyega is the first central "Trooper" protagonist we've been given in live action. Many stories from the EU have made the "Trooper" role an iconic archetype, but never have we followed one on screen in live action. I'm very excited about this.

It'll add the gray to the story. Often I've wonder why anyone would want to join the Empire? Take over their home planet and was forced to recruit? Propaganda? Brainwashing?

Boyega's arc will add depth to this sort of situation.

According to sources Gwendoline Christie is playing John Boyega’s commanding officer in Star Wars Episode VII, and she’s mad that he deserted. She’s looking for him. Possibly the caped Chrome Stormtrooper we've seen in the concept art.

Off the top of my head, anything with Will Smith, Morpheus in the Matrix films, that is about it for franchise roles. Way too little obviously.

I don't see the point of just putting in a black actor to show Racists that their time is done, at the end of the day who cares what they think.

Surely it just who is best for the role? No matter what colour, religion or gender they are.

I mean Sam L Jackson played one of the biggest bad ass Jedi's of all time, Just should of showed it him but i guess that would of been going at a different direction the trilogy wanted to go in.
