John Carter : A Princess of Mars - Part 4

I finally saw it a few weeks back. My wife and I both REALLY wanted to like it (both Friday Night Lights and Disney fans, and I just recently read A Princess of Mars and Gods of Mars for the first time), but we both just thought it was bad. Like, I felt the story jumped around too much, bringing in stuff from Gods of Mars (which would have kicked all kinds of ass as a sequel), and then changing a lot of the stuff from A Princess of Mars. Whoever said "I've got it! Let's put the 'Therns' in it!" needs to be slapped.

This movie had such tremendous potential. I feel like the Director didn't know what to do with it.

^I still think it was a fun sci-fi romp. Now I havent read the book so dont know about any changes or whatever, but the movie did have problems, some pretty big ones. BUT that didnt stop me from enjoying it, it was an old school type of sci-fi movie that you rarely get anymore.

Just wait till it's running on regular TV like TBS, TNT, USA, etc. If people see it they will like it.

Thanks Whiskey! Picked that up! Or downloaded....whatevs!

I know my hopes of a sequel will never happen...but I really enjoyed the movie. Why did so many hate it?

A combination of bad press which let people be uninterested in watching it and the story tropes that are more well known in other films even though John Carter was the origin of all of that.

I still need to get the blu ray one day. I bet it would look amazing on my HDTV.

Only a tiny number of people hated it....it wasn't disliked by the public, just ignored. The majority of people who actually watched it loved or liked it.

I'm growing to love it more and more with revisiting it. Sure it's not accurate, but enough is there and it has that optimistic Disney feel I cannot get enough of. Cute adventure movie, we need more of those.

Those who did were very loud & obnoxious about it, however. That might give the impression that more disliked it than actually did.

There are things I would have done differently but I still really like it.

It was a misfire basically. It should have put John Carter into the lexicon the way Tarzan currently is.

Most "haters" of anything on the internet are extremely loud and obnoxious....daily it looks more and more like the internet was primarily made for people to shriek and ***** about things.

I'd like to think that a lot of people on the internet are socially awkward and introverted in real life and wouldn't dare talk smack to anyone they don't have any reason to talk to. The mask that is internet gives them this release to just spew garbage and nonsense, because they know that the person on the other side of the screen they're talking to can't see their face and can't hurt them. They act so tactless and act so rude online because they've never socialized or held a proper conversation with anyone in their life.

Anonymity brings out the worst in everyone.

I was skeptical about seeing it in theaters but once I saw it on Starz I loved it!

Indeed! The Internet is not all bad though!
