Even though his name was posted on the IMDB just a few weeks after Jon Favreau announced he was going to direct Iron Man, John Debney hasn't been officially signed to score the film -- until now. The latest issue of Film Score Monthly (which you can view here) has announced that the agency representing Debney, Gorfaine-Schwartz, has said that John Debney is locked for Iron Man.

This film will mark the third collaboration for Debney and Favreau, the past two being Elf and Zathura. And considering that Debney's resume consists mostly of comedies (marked with exceptions such as The Passion of the Christ, Sin City and Cutthroat Island), this is most likely Debney's first superhero score. He's a very talented and versatile composer, and I'm happy to see him get a more worthy project other than comedies like Evan Almighty and Elf.

Another Oscar-nominee added to the crew. Seriously, great looking-out mclay18. :yay:

Awesome news, John said in a interview not long ago that he is a huge Iron Man fan and would love to score the film.

I saw that no one else had alerted TPTB to this news, I find it pretty significant. Again, a fantastic find mclay18.

JON FAVREAU SAYS:

"No one has yet been hired to score the film."

More here.

Not sure exactly what's going on, but my hope is that we get Harry Gregson Williams.

I'd like to throw James Horner's hat into the ring of possibilities then. John Williams wouldn't be bad either.

Awesome! John's score for Passion of the Christ is one of the best scores I've ever heard put to film.

I'm a little iffy, but if he does nearly as well with this as he did for Sin City [and stays FAR away from Zathura], then I'm behind it.

I wants a darker, more X2 esque score.
I'll be happy if that's what we'll get.

I like him very much, I thnkk he has the potential to do justice (considering the material he will have to work with will be of good quality).
