John McTiernan was first WB choice for Batman 3

I was reading imdb trivia for Batman Forever, I don't know if was true or not.

John McTiernan was Warner Brothers first choice to direct the film, but he had to turn it down because he was busy working on Die Hard: With a Vengeance (1995)

Me neither. He doesn't seem a logical choice to replace Tim Burton. Schumacher is atleast a very visual director. McTiernan is an action man, a thriller man.

Still, McTiernan would be a great choice for a more straight-forward Batman movie. Just not Batman Forever. He'd have been ideal for X-Men III.
