I think John Woo would make an awesome Deadpool film.

What are other users thoughts about it?

No thanks.

Good action.....but Comedy is the most important aspect of Deadpool. I dont read those comics to see action. I want to laugh.

Imagine John Woo AND Robert Rodriguez directing and writing? With a little help from Kelly or Nicieza.

Now that would be PERFECT.

See the thing with Woo is that you could satirize his other movies. Like you know the trademark white doves? Have Deadpool shoot them and crack wise about it.

But then I suppose with Rodriguez you could satirize his films as well. Pool walking into a bar with a guitar case, the goons have a nervous look on their faces, Pool reaches down, they draw their guns...and Pool actually pulls out a guitar and is like "Ahhh not rock fans then no?"

They could get a writer who is great at dark comedy along with John Woo as director.

I would ****ing love it if Wade walks out of a pet store, with Doves pouring out, and he just shoots his gun up in the air, and kills them all.

You know whtat would be perfect?

SHANE (FU**IN') BLACK writing the script for Deadpool.

As for a director. I just hope they'll get someone with a distinct visual style, rather than a studio puppy.

HAHA yea, that would be sick. And he's like...

"Doves, pidgeons, all the same. ****ing rats with wings is what they are."

Yea and Shane Black is great too. But yea we need someone with a knack for insane violence and action. ie Woo or Rodriguez. A directing who doesn't compromise.

Well, Shane Black wrote Lethal Weapon, The Last Boyscout and The Long Kiss Goodnight. He definitely knows how to handle insane violence and action, and most important, he knows how to write (dark) comedy and memorable one-liners.

What do you think about James McTeigue, Neill Marshall or Joe Carnahan as directors?

McTeigue is doing Ninja Assassin ain't he? I can't wait for that flick. That should have over the top action scenes that would fit Deadpool to a tee.

The other too though I'm not too familiar with apart from Smoking Aces. I do hear good things about Marshall though.

Yep, he's directing Ninja Assassin.

As for Joe Carnahan and Neill Marshall. Well, they all have something in common: they're movies are somewhat over the top, which would be a good thing for Deadpool.

Who do you think should compose the score? Here are some ideas:
- John Frizzell (Alien Resurrection)
- Marco Beltrami (Scream, Hellboy)
- Christopher Young (Drag Me To Hell)

Another movie they could look at as an inspiration is True Romance. The movie, written by Quentin Tarantino and directed by Tony Scott, is both hilarious, violent and over the top, but it still has enough drama for you to care for the characters. Of course Deadpool should be even crazier and funnier. The last thing I'd want Deadpool to be is some kind of Superhero Movie, so I think that there should be some drama for you to care about the character. It shouldn't be overly tragic, but it sure as hell shouldn't be cold and steril.

But I know that I'm expecting too much from a FOX movie. Daredevil may be quite faithful to the comics, but it's still a ****** movie with a ****** script and an even ****tier ("BB" is the keyword here = bland & boring) direction by Mr. MSJ, who should stick to bland and boring romantic comedies (for all you MSJ fans, you can look forward to When in Rome).

THIS ARTICLE is spot-on! This is why FOX SUX and why I rarely care about their movies!

True Romance is one of my all time faves.

But it isn't really zany or insane like a Deadpool movie should be.

As for the score? Something unique. Maybe produced by the RZA or Trent Reznor.

I do not want stupid punk/rock type music like Sum41 which I saw mentioned on another forum. I never think of that kind of music when I read Deadpool books. He's a high tech mercenary. The music should be like that too. I'm not talking cheesy euro techno. I'm talking rave music. Some jungle/drum and bass or dub step kinda sounds. Industrial music.

He needs a very unique theme tune. Like how they did with Joker in TDK. It needs to be something really energetic and crazy.

Yeah, I said that Deadpool should be crazier than True Romance. But as far as balancing comedy and drama, it could be something to look at. Same goes for atmosphere and cinematography (don't tell me that the scene in Drexl's club doesn't look incredibly beautiful).

As far as the score goes, I'd prefer a classic score, rather than electro. There could be electro elements in between, like there's short saxophone parts in the Lethal Weapon movies now and then, but I really think that a bunk of the score should be classical. I'd really like the music to be almost horror-like.

Yea True Romance has some great cinematography and the whole gritty vibe of it is cool.

Hmmm yea actually a horror like theme would go pretty well with Deadpool. But it does need energetic bursts. You know that tune "Wade Goes to Work" on the Wolverine soundtrack? Something like that for the fight scenes.

Yeah, just edited my post above, saying that there could be short "electro skits", like the sax skits in the Lethal Weapon flicks (which still has a classical score by Michael Kamen, next to these skits).

By the way, I really love the Fight Club theme (since we're talking about this kinda music):

What about Todd Phillips? Director of the Hangover? He can do comedy pretty great.

Oh and Brian Tyler should score...just cuz.

YES!!! I was just about to mention the Fight Club theme. Something like that would be PERFECT for Deadpool I think.

You know, I once thought about Todd Philips. He's a great comedy director (and The Hangover is one of my fav movies), but it remains to be seen how he'd handle a slightly more visual movie, and its action scenes and effects.

Ivan Reitman did a great with Ghostbusters back in the day, after all. He had a great vision.

Another theme that I think would be pretty cool for Deadpool is the opening credits music of Se7en. I think Trent Reznor did it.

Deadpool isnt that amazing visually. The comics are very basic like.
And Starsky and Hutch had OK action.

I can see it. What's with these freaking doves?!?!?

Well, I sure would like a mix between this and classical music. It has worked before (TDK).

Another example of score which has both classical music and other musical influences. Both the theme and Howard Shore's score are great.

Well, "basic" is relative. The Dark Knight could be seen as basic, but with another director and DP (no pun intended) it could have been a mess and pretty boring, visually.

Not exactly like that. But I mean that sorta industrial sound.

It needs to be twisted, because Deadpool is twisted. Sure he is funny and zany and all that. But when it comes down to it, the guy is a tragic, tortured person. His humour is mainly just his way of dealing with the fact that life constantly takes a dump on him.
