Heard/Saw this on CMT today...Almost threw up.

Cash was perfect as he was...no need to "Modernize" him. :cmad::csad:

oh....my.....god! were they TRYING to do awful things? i mean, seriously. how do you do this and think to yourself "yes, this sounds good. this is a good idea." oh my god, man.

I am a big CASH fan. If I play that youtube will I burn CMT down?

:thing: :doom: :thing:
yes. yes you will. and your actions would be completely righteous. im sure they deserved being burned down long ago. but if you watch this you WILL drive to nashville and destroy the building and the soul of everyone in it, and it would be entirely justified. its that awful, man.

This site has never needed a vomit smiley more. That was...disgusting.

What idiot thought, "You know how we introduce Cash to the younger generation? We throw some MAD BEATS ON THAT MUTHA!"

Cash should come back to life and go on a throat kicking rampage.

Quoted for truth.

Not a fan of that Everlast cover, but, that's ten times better than that atrocious remix. But that's not very hard to accomplish.

The problem is not that they remixed it, it's that they didn't go nearly far enough with it. Have Lil Jon produce it, Ludacris can come in and do a verse, and then over dub Danzigs version of Thirteen over it. That would be so god damn ridiculous that it would cross the line into being awesome.

Also, on the Everlast version, have you noticed like, every other Everlast song since House Of Pain has used the same sort of...I dont know...it's a sound effect. It was in this, and it's in Jump Around, and it's in a lot of other stuff he's done.

you're probably talking about the whistle, right? it was in "jump around" but i can't think of any other songs he's used it in. maybe back in house of pain, but ever since he went solo, i don't recall him using that sound effect. look at his big singles, ends, and what it's like, neither of those use it.

back to the remix tho, you're right, i'm surprised they didn't totally rape it by putting a rapper on it or something, kinda like in walk hard.

He used it on The White Boys Back from his first CD, I'm almost sure. And a lot of House of Pain stuff used it.

Get the Necronomicon and we'll make it happen.

Joaquin Phoenix in Walk The Line was so so much better than this remix.

on a different note, how much of an honor must it have been for trent reznor to have cash cover "hurt" shortly before passing away? that cover was amazing, i remember listening to that song a lot when it came out. i like the nin version too, but c'mon, it's ****in johnny cash.

Remixing Johnny Cash is like painting sunglasses and a joint into the Mona Lisa. Screw these people.

*shudder*

And its not even a good remix, regardless of it being JC. All he did was add crappy drums and a stupid guitar riff. Boo.

Reznor said in an interview that when he heard Cash's version the song was no longer a NIN song, he was just the guy who wrote the words. That's a damn sad music video.

And remixing JC is atrocious, I might have to burn things.
