my HT Joker arrived Monday...decided to get the V.1 right now,so i at least have a "basic" Joker...if he's still available in 3 weeks (hen i have some extra cash) i'll order the Bank Robber one as well...

simply put, even with the "bad" head,it blows the DC Direct one away!!

Wow nice pics ! I am waiting for my Dark Knight, but I am contemplating buying a Joker or maybe a Two Face. I don't want to purchase a Joker figure until Hot Toys announces what the 3rd one might be. Are you going to buy a pod or tumbler mate? Those things are freakishly expensive, I don't have an original costume batman so I'm going to skip on the tumbler... but pod maybe... if I have space in my room.

PS
The DC Joker looks so bad next to the Hot Toys Joker xD! I am still dumbstruck on how DC owns Batman and made such an inferior figure.

Nice.

I've been thinking of getting one of those, since I think my chances of my BRJ ever coming from Statuetoys is about 50% at this point. I honestly don't mind the "bad" head: sure the BRJ is way better but it doesn't bother me.

Does it stand well on its own, without the stand?

Come on guys, I admit the DCD version isnt as good as the HT one, but considering its about 1/3 the price of the HT one, it's not a horrible figure. I like it fine.
Still I do plan on getting the HT one at some point along with the BRJ and Batman, (Two-Face, maybe) they're just too good to pass up.

mikey1974, can you check your green waist coat pockets, see if they are open for a card to sit in?

Yeah I agree, I still really like the DCD even though I own both Hot Toys Joker's. Though I haven't and will not do any modding to them, but he hasn't even got the clothes looking respectable. Both his figures require serious futzing!

Totally agree!

Iono, I mean 60 bucks is "sorta" a lot for a toy. So I mean if your going to get one might as well go all out and get more bang for your buck xP. But that's just me.

I've found the clothes on the DCD figure look a lot better and hang more realistically if you remove the inner grey jacket. Not entirely "accurate" if you will, but the grey jacket isn't all that visible in the film anyway. The only other thing I'll definitely do is add a chain, I think it's too cool a detail to miss out. I may also add some more hair and futz a little with the paint job. other than that and the missing socks, in general I think it's a nice figure. It's OK, I find modding figures a lot of fun, so I'm never too concerned if a figure isn't 100% accurate.

Oh yeah, I totally forgot about the chain. When I say modding I should have stated repaints or gluing on hair was what I meant. :)

It's another thing adding chains, socks and whatever where no damage can occur. It's just a simple add or take away.

Well, I MAY add hair, maybe deepen the scars a bit ,and repaint just a little. As the DCD figure is already a half decent likeness, it wouldn't take much work to make a great improvement. Being an (ex) pro-miniatures-sculptor and painter, I have the skills, it's just a matter of getting up the gumption to actually do it.

Well, considering that the DCD figure originally cost close to $80, but only cost me $55, and that the HT on average costs about $150-$175, I figure that's a good value and just about the level of quality I'd expect for such a figure.
Funny thing , though, when I got it, I looked it over and noticed there was a button missing from the vest, and I thought OH CRAP!! Well, so much for DCD's quality control. Then I noticed the photo on the back of the box the same button was missing, I checked on pics from the movie and saw the same thing. I thought then, well, that was a relief, and I thought that DCD was showing a decent attention to detail there.
Does the HT one have that same missing button?

Yes, they have the same missing button.

Thats cool then, because I've seen and I'm sure you have also seen so many peoples attempts that ends up looking over the top. Or in my opinion looking worse that they've ruined a perfectly good sculpt and paint job for what the stock version was. There's only 2 or 3 that I've seen that I could say was stellar. Everything else just looks very amateur, even though people said it was great just for the sake of it.

My hats off to you for your experience in this type of work. :)

I definitely don't have the bottle to do this to a close to $199 figure. Give or take.

I would only do this kind of semi-major rework to the DCD figure, although I really like the figure, it definitely is far from perfect, and seeing I got it for a decent price, and I'm confident in my modeling skills, I would have no fear doing those kind of touch-ups like I mentioned.
The HT one is a different story, both because of it's hefty price tag, and, quite frankly, from what I can tell, it doesn't really need it. The only thing I would do with the HT one is the BRJ head swap.

nah,no pockets on the green vest...purple overcoat and grey jacket have them,though...

I saw a totally plastic one in stores that I wish I would have bought. It must have been a factory defect. The vest was purple, and the coat was green. Spooky.

...?

That's not a defect, Blaztro, it's meant to be that way, It's "Destructo-Case" Joker from the kiddified Basic Dark Knight line. A really crappy figure compared to the Movie Masters version.

Oh. All the figures behnd it were normal looking, so I figured it must have been a mess up.

they released the "normal" ,purple coat and pants Joker in the second assortment...

Not sure where to post this. I wondered if anyone would know where I could get...let's call it the original dark knight joker mask? The first one i bought...which really didn't look anything like the joker, had alot of really course green/brown hair and it was parted down the middle. It also had the neck attached to it. I see alot of postings on ebay, but they all use the same stock photo and you can get very different masks depending on who you buy from. I bought this original mask I think in May of last year and I think it was the first rubie mask to come out. I'm just looking to get a second one. Thanks for any info that can be provided!

I don't usually search for this kinda thing, but if I find something I'll let you know.

Wow..thank you. I have some pics if you'd like to see. I can email them to you if you like?
