1) Probably a basic suit, nothing special.

2) My guess is they are gonna go for the look from the 1920s film the man who laughs.

My guess is he wont wear a costume. He'll wear clothes. He'll have a unique style, but he'll change his clothes throughout the movie. Maybe the classic get-up in one scene, a DRK-style white suit in another, and perhaps a T-shirt saying "I killed Rachel Dawes and all I got was this lousy T-shirt".

I'd love to have the classic purple suit. That said, if the realism is taken to extremes (as in, a psycho can't wear a purple suit), I think the hat and trenchcoat would be a splendid way to keep it a bit more toned down but still look like the Joker. Even as I type this though, I cringe at the concept of having to tone it down so as not to have the classic Joker costume. It just seems so unnecessary. I really don't see any reason why they won't have him wear it, as I think about it.

But I would like him to have both.

I've yet to see any logic from the anti-realism crowd. The irony is, they're more obsessed with it than Nolan is.

Joker should not have "a costume".

He should wear clothes. Various outfits. That the joker would wear. Mostly purple and somewhat flambouyant like he should be.

Like a lot of the stuff in this thread.

Because people - even total whackos - do not wear the same thing everyday unless it's a uniform. Batman's suit is a uniform and a piece of equipment. Joker's clothes aren't.

What joker wears should not feel like a "costume" designed by a costume designer for a movie. They should feel like clothes chosen by the Joker because he likes them.

I don't care what anyone says - this is the DEFINITIVE Joker...

What should he look like? His facial features should match those in the picture above. Dark, green hair which kinda takes the shape of a devils horns, a deadly smile... that picture represents the definitive Joker.
